  2. Taking your belief that if oil is thicker it lubricates better -if so, why not go all the way and fill the sump with grease! Deviating from the manufacturer’s recommendations is entering a territory you should not want to be in, but it’s your car and your choice to ignore VAG’s advice and the advice offered on here so far. Good luck with whatever you choose to do, and I remain happy that the advice I’ve offered you is based on sound logic. Having said that, please let us know what you eventually decide Parm. Regards, Gareth.
  3. Ok Dave, many thanks.

  5. Hi everyone 😀 As I just joined, I thought it best to intro myself here and showcase my pride&joy on 4 wheels 😅 I've had my car since 2023 and still have the feelings it's new to me. While I've had other VAG cars before (Golf MK6, Skods Fabia 2015, Skoda Octavia 2002), this my first Audi - wow, it's such a difference in certain aspects. I do need to get some repair work done, which I'll ask for advice in a separate thread. For more photos, check out the post I made in the members gallery. Comments and questions are most welcome.

  6. Thank you. I believe it was low fuel pressure, changing the fuel pressure pump (I’m so rubbish with cars as you can possibly tell) under the back seat did nothing, the guy at the garage said he thinks it now could be the ecu, they checked for any visual damage to it and nothing, I spoke to someone who deals with ecu’s and remapping and he said he doubts it is that
  7. Where was the car parked while you were away mate? Just wondering because there have been a lot of horror stories in the press recently about airport parking companies using (and often damaging) vehicles while the owners were away.
  8. Thanks. We're scheduling the appointment today. We had the diagnostic software updated but they didn't check anything else out on that appointment.
  9. I can't help on that score, except to say you need to find a way to test the output of the LT pulse generator (the Jetronic unit) before worrying about the coil.
  10. Reason I ask is the gearbox specialist i went to said s5 funny enough uses the same gearbox as a A5

  13. Yes this is copy from the app Product details The services of Audi connect Remote & Control connect the vehicle with the smartphone. With the myAudi App, the vehicle can be accessed remotely, the last parking position and the current vehicle status can be viewed. This includes the current mileage, the next inspection and information on whether doors and windows are locked. If necessary, the vehicle can be locked and unlocked remotely. Certain optional extras can also benefit from the online connection. For example, a push notification can be sent to the smartphone when the anti-theft alarm system is triggered or the parking heater can be started via app. The package includes the following services: - Car Finder - vehicle status - Remote Lock&Unlock - remote auxiliary heating - theft alarm notification
  14. SKF is a quality part. Stick with your mechanic, if you trust them, then that counts for a lot. I’m sure you’ll get to the bottom of it.
  15. Stunning. I do love an A8 d3 👍
  16. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 looks a lovely car.
  17. Hi all, I bought this lovely S8 knowing it had an abs pump issue. I purchased a 2nd hand abs pump which had the exact like for like part numbers however, I can't get the thing to code successfully. The old faulty unit can't be read either to copy the codes. Does anyone know how to code the replaced unit to the car? Im happy to pay whatever the price is and I can travel too. Thanks
  18. I'm only on my second Audi but it does seem that water ingress, electrical issues, and a combination of the two are a constant problem whatever the age of the car. It's like owning a 1970's Alfasud but without the rust. Shame as I really love styling and the way they get down the road.
  19. The old trick for cleaning the inside of a fuel tank was to throw in a handful of nut (the ones that go on bolts, not the KP variety!) and then shake your moneymaker like your life depended on it, obviously removing anything like fuel sender etc first.
  20. Well done.
  21. who knows why the machine says wiltshire clifford.also the dates wrong,as i had it checked today lol
  22. Thanks! In fact I've spent 2.500 Euros so far to get a promising 2.5Tdi for another 200.000Km without any more issues than the regular oil change. Every year I've spent like 4k Euros on my old car, a Land Rover Discovery Sport 2.0 Ingenium. So... 2.5K Euros for some "peace" is quite good for me! 😁 Cheers
  23. How do I check that?

  25. This is sorted now I pulled relay 208 pulled the injectors bridged the relay and lifted the flap on the metering head. Eventually got a good delivery of fuel from each injector. But no spark back to it.

  28. Tim. If you look through the forum history you will see that changing from tungsten to LED is far from straightforward, and sometimes impossible. If your lights are dim it would be simpler to just renew the bolbs. Incandescant lights do become dim over time.
