  2. IMG_3583.mov Hello again I was not able to code the keys in this way unfortunately it wouldn’t allow me I just coded them with vcds . I have another issue the car is down on power and is misfiring with white smoke I have no fault codes present I’m thinking possibly injector issue I’m a bit confused by it hahaha what are yere thoughts I attached a video I’m not sure if ye can see it or not IMG_3583.mov
  3. No, the fob batteries will not cause that. It might be worth looking at the wires inside the rubber bellows between door and frame. Fracture of those wires is a common fault in other models.
  4. I have never heard of this problem until reading of it here. If the failure is because the pipe is plastic maybe you should have one fabricated in rubber.
  5. Sorry I didnt realise you asked, I though you meant how much current mileage we do. Sitting on 51k currently. Also, I'd welcome recommendations for a local independent in Birmingham and surrounding area.

  7. I've decided to postpone my appointment with Audi, I need the car. Also, the car is running ok, so I'll just keep monitoring it for the time being.
  8. So, I took the convertible out this morning, keeping it in normal performance before it warmed up. After about a mile, I got the flashing glow-plug symbol, and a reduction in power. 🤔 I got to my destination, and switched off. When I restarted, the DPF warning came up, but without the glow-plug lamp, and performance was normal. Now up to normal temperatures, I drove it at 70 in fourth gear for about three miles, but on restart, the DPF symbol is still there. I sat on the driveway with the engine idling, and Carly plugged in. It came up with an odd code - something to do with intermittent signal from the seat belt circuit, and not connected to anything about the engine, so I cleared and rescanned - clean...🤔 I'm going to take it for a spin this afternoon with Carly plugged in to see if anything comes to light. I spoke to my mate at Norwich Audi, who tells me that a forced DPF re-gen is £200 - but advised me to shop around. He also mentioned, in passing, that a new DPF was £2,500... 😱 So, I've got it provisionally booked in at CAT Automotive next Friday, for investigation. Their comment was that they need to see why the DPF isn't re-genning on its own, and cure that problem, rather than just addressing the symptom and forcing a re-gen. I'll keep updating this thread - but please jump in with ideas... Cheers, Mike 😎
  9. I had mine plugged it don't really come up with much they are saying it's a electrical fault between gearbox and brain of car
  10. Thanks Steve, Ill let you know how I get on.
  11. You didn’t let us know what tyre brands are currently fitted Frank. Have you checked the listed noise rating on them? How much tread is left, since tyres generally get noisier as they wear? You really do need to give us all the information- problem and what you have already done to try to solve it, otherwise we will end up suggesting you do what you have already done - again. Regards, Gareth.
  12. I just thought I would pop my head above the parapet and say that I finally did get the remap. Not only that, but I also had the gearbox mapped as well. I would say that it is well worth doing, however the difference is not as noticeable as you would think. The reason for this is probably a positive: In the lower rev ranges, the car behaves similarly to before ie it is quick but not ballistic. "Fizzy" is actually the word that comes to mind, like a shaken bottle of coke with the lid on. So pootling is as easy as it was. It does change up a little earlier as you would expect and happily sits in 4th now at 25mph. the torque waves are wonderfully relaxing it has to be said. On the rare occasion that you can get into manual mode and above 4000 rpm and "take the lid off", it is noticeably quicker than the 550i and frankly it is slighty nuts. I do miss my days with my old turbocharged sleeper Saabs and it is nice to be back in something that outperforms its appearance!
  13. At least you can rule out the battery. It might be worth getting a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up
  14. You'll need a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. But I'd say it could be the megatronics unit.

  16. Hi all new to club I would like to share my findings with you all on what has happened with my Fsi so far. I bought it cheap as it has/had a misfire and lack of power. I found the inlet flap actuator was missing (GREAT) I thought 😭 Previous owner drove it for 18 months like this until misfire started. Anyway I started of with plugs and coils and injection cleaner still had a miss. Now the interesting bit it never had the start up clatter that 90% of fsi owners report until yesterday after a short drive I started it again to drive it into the garage I was met with quite a clatter for a couple of seconds or so it settled into a nice idle strange I thought it even reved nicely so I take it for another short drive it went like a rocket all the lack of power and missing had gone😃😃 I am a bit stumped as the only codes I had were for the inlet flaps and multiple misfires Now I am thinking was the cam variator stuck and then freed itself any thoughts on this???
  17. I believe so.
  18. Ah apologies
  19. ... On another forum a member had loads of written exchanges with the DVLA / DVSO on the same subject and they just shrugged a lot.
  20. Sorry I missed this. So glad you've got it back. You've done a great job and the cars s credit to you 🙂 Have you managed to change the wheels and finding the cause of the cold start issue?
  21. You're welcome 🙂
  22. Welcome Dermot, thanks for joining, and sorry to hear of your issue. Please allow me to be direct:- it doesn’t matter if anyone else has had this issue - you have, and it’s unacceptable! To me, the all important thing is that you have everything written down as a record, including phone calls and responses. Not meaning to be personal, but is there any degree of finance involved with this car? If so, you would be wise to notify them in writing of this issue, and state that you will be rejecting the vehicle if not correctly fixed by ‘x’ date. Obviously copy the dealer and Audi Customer Services. Please keep us updated Dermot, and let us know if we can help further. Regards, Gareth.
  23. You might find that the airbag system can't just be reset from a regular code reader and might need to be done by an Audi independent specialist or Audi.
  24. Possibly it's the air con. My wife's Yeti purrs like a cat when the AC is running.
  25. No probs please keep us posted on how you get on
  26. HI, Worthwhile trying, but didn't work for me. I redeployed the app and changed the pwd & got as the reset - did a "soft-reset" .. meaning holding the volume control knob for ± 15 secs . When it comes up I see it verifying my original/current key user (lets say XXX) for access ... and then I get the user dialog. XXX is still listed alongside 'Guest' but I cannot apply its settings (tech error) .. I cannot delete XXX .. and I cannot add a new user with the new password: "technical errors" everywhere. The only option I see is do a full factory reset (the nuclear option) .. but I understand I may need dealer approval with registering a new user 😞 So still stuck ... This whole key user thing has always been unstable; I had issues with my last Audi too and had to leave it at the dealer. In any case, if anyone has any suggestions/advice it would be welcome
  27. Hello, I'm new to the forum and seeking suggestions on how to identify a problem with my electric windows. Issue is that the windows move when I lower and raise the hood, but the multi switch on the driver's side does not work. I ordered a replacement switch from eBay and this also didn't work. I've investigated the wiring in the door hinge but there are no obvious breakages. I've heard that it could be a faulty window motor and have ordered a used replacement from eBay. It arrives tomorrow. If this doesn't solve the problem I'm not sure what to do next. Does anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks
  28. Just to follow up on this, had the car in for a diagnostic after going through the motions of trying to eliminate the cause of the noise. Turns out its the gearbox. Warranty company are trying to impose a cap on hourly labour charges (despite being purchased with unlimited labour costs!) meaning no garages will undertake the works, I'm also now 3 weeks past 6 months of owning the car so got a fight on both sides to either get it repaired or try and reject. Has anyone had any luck going down the rejection route after 6 months? On a plus the video shows the noise was present within the 6 months so could use that to some degree hopefully.
