  2. Hi, Had my Q6 Edition 1 Quattro for a year now and have only recently had a couple of significant issues i.e issues that did not resolve by turning the car off and on again! Fault 1 was a failed clip on the plastic trim above the rear passenger side door. The trim has now been replaced under warranty, but I got charged £40 for the courtesy car by the Audi dealer for insurance! Never had this before where the issue is a manufacturing defect that has caused me the inconvenience of having to get it repaired, Audi should really pay for this. Fault 2; the day before going in to get the trim replaced, I could not authenticate on the MMI and my phone would not connect. Android auto connection has been hit and missed for couple of weeks, which may be related. The dealer diagnosed the fault which requires a replacement of a control unit that connects the car to Audi services including MyAudi app. The part is on back order, and I've been told it could take a couple of weeks to arrive. I've been told the car is safe to drive and I will be able to charge it, but I'm having to configure settings everytime I use the car, which is an inconvenience. Sat nav and other features like traffic signal recognition also do not work right now. These feel relatively minor to other issues people have/are experiencing, but it does bring into question Audi reliability.

  4. Now you tell us! No wonder the engine is a wreck.
  5. Hi that would do it, the remap has possibly done the damage as the pistons on these EA111 engines have a weak point insomuch as increased boost pressure and fuelling cause the ring grooves to fail and bits fall off of the castings where the rings locate which is probably why you have compression failure, having spoken to my garage they reckon timing chain tensioners can fail anywhere between 40k-60k which probably explains why in a short time they phased this engine out and bought in an upgraded belt driven engine. Steve.
  6. Hi I think you need an auto electrician to sort this one out but I have a sneaking suspicion the comfort control modules have possibly been fried as they don't like water or being shorted to earth, my advice is tell the mechanic he has to pay for the fix. Steve.
  7. Stage 1 about 3 years ago. Most other improvements are wheels, Interior leather, S/wheel & brakes.
  8. Hi you can't just swap the airbag module as the steering wheel originally fitted is completely different, an auto electrician could probably sort the wiring but the new wheel would need coding in and thats if you don't need another control module. Steve.
  9. Hi if its failed a sniff test its academic the gasket is leaking, I personally would do the same as the first garage if you take in to account that the head will most likely need a skim to correct any surface defects, then the valve seats would need to be lapped in, the timing chain is worth doing as even at 60k its probably stretched and the guides will be worn, factor in possible bore wear and you have the potential for a catastrophic wallet failure, from memory these engines were not good from new and if driven hard don't generally take to much action, you also mentioned improvements, one of them was not mapping was it? Steve.
  10. Yes oil pressure, & it's a timing chain not belt. Happy with the pump & belt, not the unnecessary chain.
  11. So changed oil and filter just now. Sump is bone dry. No loss of revs removing oil filler cap with engine running. No engine management lights Scanned with VCDS nothing untoward there (couple of none related faults) No smoke from exhaust Ive manged to source an OEM valve which should be here within a few days as apposed to the 10 days from Audi UK Watch this space as they say .
  12. leave as is. Is an extra 25bhp going to make much difference anyway?. Future classic for sure.
  13. enc started following Yippee I got one….
  14. I suspect the sensors for the window travel are faulty, but I really don't know anything about them. A diagnostic code reader should be able to pinpoint the problem.
  15. Richard. Are you really referring to low coolant pressure warning? I suspect you mean low oil pressure. The 1.4 TFSI engines of that era were notorious for their skinny piston rings causing dramatic losses of oil which would explain the low compression readings and failed sniff test. The only realistic solution is installation of redesigned pistons and rings at great expense. Whether the coolant loss is related I can not say. Your first garage was right to suggest renewing belts and water pump at the same time because they would be due in 10000 miles and would need another engine strip down to install them, so it is cheaper to have the lot done at the same time. In its present condition I doubt that the car is worth more than £1000. Do you love it enough to spend several thousand pounds on it?
  16. WOM Automotive is most definitely the go-to place for anything A2. I sold mine earlier this year after 20 years, on 308,500 miles, to a fellow A2 enthusiast, as I needed an automatic. Hopefully he'll take it on for some years yet. I expect you already know the main A2 forum on www.a2oc.net lots of good info there.
  17. Sorry that’s not working either…. Very strange. Do I try and get someone to check the computer? Or should I try and check the control units on the drivers side door??

  19. quick update about my experience if anyone interested: 1) I changed cars from 2 door Corsa D to A6 C6 (both with same hp and torque. 130/300) 2) compared to Corsa its twice as long and almost 1.5x more in weight. due to the narrow streets and small parking spaces, its important to be more cautious.. (especially when reversing with no sensors lol) 3) Engine power (130hp/320 torque) is not enough for this car. acceleration is way to slow due to turbo late response, especially when fully stopped at busy roundabout. you gotta make sure that u revving the car right before you move, otherwise u risking getting hit and claimed XD *(getting 35mpg in town and about 45 on dual carriageways) *(planning doing Stage 1 to get this more responsive with less turbo lag) 4) car has bluetooth only for phone calls sadly.. any solutions??? 5) Tail light seals. unlcuky for me, LED's weren't working on my car due to water damage inside the housing. half of the hardware (where bulbs are mounted) was corroded.. I will be doing research about few things for this car but will ask for the links here anyway: 1) Bluetooth for media (mmi 3g) 2) any reliable company for safely installing stage 1? celtic tuning gives about 205hp but from what I read about them, it seems risky. I found other link from this forum which gets about 185hp and honestly I don't mind it as far as it won't blow up the engine lol 3) sport exhaust? I honestly have no idea what Im talking about here, I just want sportier sound exhaust but not loud ones.. 4) body parts? grille, side skirts? diffuser? where do you guys buy this kind of parts? Thank you
  20. So my 2013 1.4tfsi has been into 2 garages for coolant loss & random "Stop engine low pressure" light. First garage said head gasket & quoted £3,055 for the work, but they added w/pump & belt plus timing chain on a 60k engine. Second garage concurred but refused the job saying Tfsi engines were rubbish & couldn't guarantee it was head gasket alone! And fitting another engine would cost 3-5k! Third was online community who all say both are a joke, & a few mentioned the intake manifold cooler as possible reason? So sniff test done & failed, compression test & failed (none said what readings were or what cylinder(s) ) Now it's losing coolant rapidly, however there's no white smoke, oil is still clean & runs absolutely fine with no misfires. Car on a good day could fetch 5-6k due to improvements made over 4 years i've had it. Now stuck on what to do or go next? I live in Crewe & no particular VAG specialists nearby other than official garage.

  22. Well done for pursuing a resolution. Likewise, I had 3 A6 Allroads before which were superb. I would have had another one but they are no longer made/imported, so I thought the SQ5 would be a good replacement. Air suspension, Bi-Turbo (my last A6 was a Bi turbo). The SQ5 felt like a bit of a boy racer car and was quite cramped in the back compared to the A6. I was a bit miffed to find the dual twin pipe exhausts, which looked great, were actually not connected to anything, which I thought was a bit of a con. I saw an SQ8 the other day with the same issue. The ride finished me off eventually though (and my wife also!). The handling of the SQ5 was pretty outstanding though if you were not carrying passengers! I have now got an A8, which is wonderful to drive and incredibly quiet, so I am happy at the moment. Now I have to find someone who can fit a towbar on the A8, which has proven to be difficult.

  24. Hey I have a Audi A4 B8 and I want to change my steering wheel. I bought a new one online and it was suposed to work . Unfortunately It seems that the connectors are not the same and hence dont fit . From my knowledge and research the airbag code comes from a A1 . Some people told me that I just need to change the airbag not the whole wheel . Others told me i have to change both . Others told me that I might be able to rewire the harness . Could you give me some insight on this matter ? See images bellow for reference ! Please any help would be useful .
  25. I am 18 months into SQ5 ownership and was also exasperated by the poor ride, having owned 3 A6 Avants which were all brilliant (other than the notorious BSG issue on the last one - well documented elsewhere in this forum). Having played extensively with tyre pressures and seeing as I don't drive at the limit on German Autobahns, (these days anyhow!), I have found that running pressures at 35 front and 32 rear with Individual ride setting on Comfort does significantly improve ride quality without compromising handling. It also reduces road noise on the (still original) Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyres, which are wearing very slowly. I do intend to switch them to a lower noise brand when they have worn a bit more.
  26. if you can get a good set [or new ones] for that money your doing very well
