trying to strip some 18” alloys but having trouble
spartacus 68 replied to frankA38PA's topic in Wheels And Tyres
Refurburbishing alloys is a thankless task, and to be honest it’s one of these things best left to the professionals and powder coating, rebalance, etc. That’s different if it was just a scuff, but this is a full strip-down. The time, cost of materials, including zinc etch primer, base coat primer, colour coat and a few coats of lacquer soon mounts up. If you’re determined to do it, then the alloys need to be spotless. Paint wise, then Würth silver metallic is as close to Audi OE as you’ll get. - Today

Hi sorry my BAD apparently from2014 on you do actually have to reset all end stop settings for all the motors and then re register the new motor, which will involve VCDS, sorry only a suggestion but if you intend to keep the car it might well be cheaper to buy the single VIN VCDS as should you need to upgrade to multi VIN at a later date all good, I have VCDS and OBDEleven but I could not find that function on it and I am pretty sure them and Carista share the same software Steve.

trying to strip some 18” alloys but having trouble
cliffcoggin replied to frankA38PA's topic in Wheels And Tyres
The sticky flakey layer is a form of lacquer which is likely why paint stripper is not shifting it. Try wiping with cellulose thinners or lacquer thinners. -
Thanks @Steve Q I think I’ll try another dealer to see what they say!

hello all. recently i bought some curb damaged 18” alloys for my a3 and thought i’d try to refurb them. i started filling, sanding then started to prime but the primer was cracking, so i decided to completely start from the base. i have been trying to strip them for a couple weeks now using a stripper and a jet washer which at first was going quite well, however i’ve ran into some really tacky and rubber like layer which although comes off at some parts, a lot of it just won’t budge and it’s quite frustrating me and after not getting a lot of help from google i was hoping i could get some help and advice on here. im just looking to see if there’s a way i can do it that would make it easy, a product that would be more effective or wether i might be better getting them sorted professionally. cheers ive attached some pics of the wheels and stripper im using. - also seems to be a weird shiny layer that when i jet wash starts to turn a darker colour rather that coming off.

Sorry I should of said, it’s a 2017 S5 with automatic transmission. when the fault occurs my foot is on the brake only and not on the accelerator thanks

Is it automatic transmission? Pressing the throttle and brake pedals simultaneously will cause the drive system warning message. I don't know about the TPMS message.
-
Indeed you do need help, but as mentioned earlier a meter or an electrician is necessary. Changing parts at random will be an expensive solution that may not solve anything.

Thanks for the reply. We'll the fault occurred during the MOT test, it come out the station with an oil level sensor light on the dash even though the level is spot on. 2 weeks later i changed it which worked for a week the the light come back on. I only noticed the ac issue when we went for a regas last week, he said the clutch wouldn't engage on the compressor which is either due to g65 or dodgy compressor. We changed the g65 took it back and bingo clutch worked and filled it up. But.. the econ light stays on and no cold air, check fuse.. blown and here we are... I have now disconnected the compressor, g65, oil level sensor, turned off whole control unit for ac, removed reverse light bulb and fog bulb which were blown and fuse 4 still blows. It's now been 2 months since mot and not sure what I can do.. I do feel I need help

Hello, Recently acquired an Audi A4 1.8T Convertible which for a 23 year old car seems in good all round order. Have a couple of newbie queries which I hope someone can advise on? 1. Do both rear fog lights illuminate? There is wiring to both and bulbs are good. Only offside one illuminates… 2.The boot lock works with the key but the central locking from the key doesn’t release the boot. There is noise but the lock doesn’t open to clearly something amiss internally - Any ideas? 3. I see there is a fridge available in the glove bos? Has anyone retro itted this and if so is it fairly straight forward? Thanks for any advice and look forward to any suggestions to help me Best regards, David👍

Q5 - Stop/Start system fault + brake servo restricted
cliffcoggin replied to Pauline S.S.'s topic in Audi Q5 Club
Glad to hear it. -
Hi all. Yes. It’s chain. Air filter was changed at my request when I bought it. Only done 15,000 since then. Brake fluid due to be changed at service in May 2026. I’m getting a freebe but cost is normally £90. Local garage quoted same.

Hi all. Thanks for the advice about the fault. Back from Audi garage. Fault found with replacement switch I bought. They’ve done a diagnostic check and fitted new one. All OK now. -
Pro boost engineering do a plug and play ecu remap that does away with intake flaps, egr, and nox ect No one in the uk does that. Have a read on the uk A2 owners club site they have about 30 pages about it just google audi a2 pro boost. PS if you know of a uk firm that does the same as pro boost engineering let me know would be a few beers in it if you do,

2.0 TDI rattle sound when press the gas or release it,
Steve Q replied to Ori's topic in Audi A4 (B8) Forum
Could be a heat shield rattling on the exhaust. Or an issue with the suspension arms when underload. -
You're best bet is to get the system pressure checked and trgassed first.
-
You'd be better getting a remap done here on a rolling road in my opinion. That way the map can be tailored to the car and your requirements

Welcome Sergiu, What is the actual issue with your alternator? Does the car have full (Audi) history, with no services missed on not carried out on time? Have you read the ‘small print’ in your Extended Warranty’ which usually allows them to get out from under a snakes belly with a top hat on!? Current mileage? Regards, Gareth.

Hello Allan, Gates are the manufacturer and not the supplier to the public. If you go into EBay you will find a number of sellers selling this hose. ACS is just one. Another company worth looking at would be Parts in Motion ( Exeter). They are motor factors and supply moulded/ bent Gates hoses for a number of vehicles. Kind regards, Gareth.

Hi I have an Audi Q7 2019. Got a problem with alternator and trying to get help and free replacement from the local dealer. They sent a form to complete and I would like to mention the extended warranty of 7 years on the faulty alternators. Please advise how can I get a free replacement, how to speak to them and if they refuse what can I do? Thank you
