  2. Hi. Not sure on the compatibility but not sure if you’re aware there is a haldex unit which sits in front of the diff. This is usually disengaged so the power is to the front wheels only unless the system detects slip at which point the rears are engaged by the haldex. The haldex unit should be serviced every 20000 miles. Might be worth looking at that as well as I believe they can cause problems.

  4. Hi guys, I recently purchased an OBDeleven device and scanned my car. It's showing fault code P191A00. I checked the camshaft adaptation (Bank 1) value, and it's reading between 0.70 and 0.86°, which seems to be well within the normal range. Could this still indicate a faulty crankshaft or camshaft position sensor, or is the issue likely to be something else? Would it be worth replacing either sensor, or are there other checks I should carry out first? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

  7. Item (18) here. https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/audi/RDW/A4AR/673/8/820/820031 Genuine Audi £240, but labour, potentially 4-5 hours. It’s a fiddly job, trim to remove, etc. Depends what they find. VAG group were using silica bags as had moved to G13 coolant. System may very well need flushed, etc. Not sure who made original part, possibly Mahle?
  8. Thanks guys. That’s what I was thinking. 😩 I wonder has anyone else had this problem with there SQ5? What are people’s thoughts on Poole Audi also?
  9. You have nothing to lose by asking, but I reckon your chances are slim. If there was genuine goodwill by the dealer you would not have to ask for it.
  10. Hello James, No harm in seeking some token of goodwill, but I would doubt you will get much out of them. Let’s hope I’m wrong. Kind regards, Gareth.

  12. Hi guys. Was picking up my brand new SQ5 first edition today from Poole Audi. While going through the handover a warning msg kept coming up saying “Audio for outside (?) mode not working see dealer.” After finishing the handover the Sales guy refers it to Tech guy who informs me after looking at it he sorted it and all is fine. Wife and I decided to go for some food close by because we live in Weymouth about an hour away. On way there msg flashed up again. When we were leaving restaurant, msg flashed up again and en route back to dealer. Long story short we have had to leave it with them (we have a Q3 loan car from them) to get on to Audi UK to find out how to fix it and don’t know how long it will take to sort. Good job the wife was with me or I might of blown a fuse. What I’m asking is should I be seeking some sort of good will jesture if and when they fix it?

  14. Martin. You claim the battery is OK but I am sceptical. How have you tested it?
  15. It seems to be a bit hit and miss what can be done. Some golf gti mk8.5 owners have managed to get it to remember the last setting using obd 11 but not all. Not heard of a3/s3 who have managed this. The sfd2 feature in the software seems to be the main problem to making the changes. Sfd 1 is not a problem to making changes on my 2023 a3. Remembering the last setting is no different from turning it off every start so should not affect any claim. Probably worth exploring further.
  16. Ignition on lights, radio ok.c/l closes but not open.engine doesn't turn over at all checked battery fuses etc all ok,OB scanner won't link.help please.

  19. Many thanks for presenting the overall picture of activities Steve. Regards, Gareth.
  20. David. I don't think you will avoid the problem on any new car. These "safety features" have been compulsory for a year or two.
  21. Andrew. I have no idea what the cost will be, but if you search the forums you may get a clue because it is not an uncommon job and has been reported several times. See also this problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39ngHGvMzEg

  23. Thanks - I understand the concerns - I just wanted to know if it was possible. This feature and many others on the new Audi are just simply so annoying and spoil your enjoyment of the car - the speech control is rubbish, you have to continuaally turn off the lane following and beeping noise for any minor over-speed limit deviation, MMI regularly forgets who you are and continually asks you to accept that it holds peronal data. Always been very pleased with previous Audi cars - but these new 'Safety' features just suck. Probably will go back to the Merc next time as at least their tech works properly. Thanks for your response.
  24. Morning all I am a new member desperately seeking help/guidance. My car has been in a garage for nearly 2 weeks with a coolant leaking issue. The garage replaced the oil cooler gaskets/union 2 months ago following an earlier leak, but the problem persisted. They have now replaced the water pump and have said the heating matrix is blocked and requires replacement. A block test did not reveal any issue with the head gasket. I would be very grateful if anyone can confirm what the heating matrix replacement should cost. I understand it can be accessed via the driver's side footwell rather than removing the whole dash.

  26. Welcome David, Although understanding your frustration, it has been classified as a safety feature, and any attempt to permanently disable it, could be - in any claim situation - compared with not wearing a seat belt. I would proceed with caution on this. Regards, Gareth.

  28. Hello - The Lane Assist feature defaults to ON every time you start the car. It's really really annoying and just makes you cross having to turn it off every time you use the car. Audi support say you can't do it as it is a safety feature - but on my A6 it remains off unless required. Is it possible using IID Tool etc. to have this feature default to off on the A3? There are loads of annoying things with the A3 which simply worked much better on previous Mercedes - but I'm sure there must be a workaround for most of them!

  32. Wasted words I am afraid, Richard. Neil has not returned to the forum since his message of 13th July.
  33. To be fair to Halfords, it’s a pretty niche question. RS4 exhaust tips are funnily enough stainless steel, but painted. Normal wear and tear, you are going to get pitting, tar spots, etc. Tar spots are easily removed with petrol on damp microfibre. Pitting and scratches, use a very fine wire wool, #0000 with warm water and mild detergent. All you are doing is prepping. Degrease with rubbing alcohol. Next stage is to mask off and use high temperature VHT primer, followed by matte black paint.
  34. Hi could be an auxiliary water pump they use these to circulate the water if the weather is hot after the engine is stopped it prevents cooking the cylinder head, by the looks of the coolant temp it was already hot when you started the car. Steve.
  35. Hello Neil, Would you be kind enough to return to the forum and provide the additional detail enquired about-? Regards, Gareth.
  36. I had the BSG replaced on my 2020 RS7, and after 2 days from taking it back from the delearship i scanned it just to see if any historic errors are present, and i saw the coolant pump error. Nothing came up on my dashboard, but i still took it back to Audi because i thought they left air in the cooling system. They had it refilled, and claimed they used the correct process, but today when I started the car the error came back. Still nothing on the dash. Has anybody had anything similar? I'm going back to Audi tomorrow.
  37. Stormbroadcast - today - with just 2 previous posts, should be deleted?
  38. Hello Steve, All very meaningful and informative. However, on my system, although I can obviously read it, it come up in pink and states ‘Hidden’. Does this mean that members will not see it? Regards, Gareth.
