  2. Hello! I have a problem with my 2013–2016 Audi A4 B8.5 2.0 TDI 177 hp Quattro 6-speed manual. I’m getting the "Steering Lock: Contact Workshop" error on the dashboard. In VCDS, the error appears in 05 - Acc/Start Auth. as 03026 - Enabling Terminal 15 with faults 006 and 009 (Short to Ground / Short to Plus). The ignition turns on, but after pressing the clutch and pushing the key again, the car doesn’t even attempt to crank. Instead, it turns the ignition off. If I hold the clutch pedal down with the key in the ignition slot, it eventually starts after multiple attempts—sometimes on the second try, sometimes on the 20th. This error and starting issue are intermittent. If I clear the error or disconnect the battery, it works for 1–2 days (or less). The battery is fine; it was replaced last year and coded to the car. The steering lock also functions correctly—the wheel has never locked or failed to unlock. This issue occurred last year. The mechanic opened the plenum chamber under the windscreen, cleaned the cables in the junction box (center of the plenum) with sandpaper, and sprayed them with contact cleaner. I repeated this process this year, but it didn’t help, and the cables showed no visible oxidation. Worth noting: I’ve had drainage problems in the plenum chamber. Water pooled there because the drains were blocked. The issue happened last year during heavy rain and has recurred this year under similar conditions. Here is the VCDS scan for the 05 - Acc/Start Auth. (BCM2) module: (If needed I can provide a full scan for the car) Address 05: Acc/Start Auth. 3. On looking at S line seats and the SE seats, the connections appear to be the same. Obviously no harness for heated seats
  4. It appears you can, you are 100% right. Matrix LED headlights Upgrade your headlights with Audi Matrix LED technology. Individual diodes automatically switch between dipped and main beam and provide maximum illumination of the road, without dazzling other road users. Light function package Unlock an extra lighting function that adapts to surroundings to enhance visibility when on motorways, cornering and at junctions. The Light function package also includes lighting ‘animations’ that play when locking and unlocking your car. High beam assist Upgrade to High beam assist to enable the headlights to automatically detect oncoming traffic, the rear lights of other road users and light sources in built-up areas. The High beam is switched on or off automatically, depending on the traffic situation.

  6. Have you tried the method in the other thread?
  7. How did you get on?
  8. Sorry to hear of this situation. I believe the garage are telling you the truth. Bit on the safe side you could always get a second opinion
  9. THis is on another car site I visit ... not what one would expect !! https://www.facebook.com/reel/738784335385142 Shows how "noises" are difficult to quantify without examination !!
  10. I have a 2015 A4 Avant Quattro 2.0TDI Technik. The cruise control has ceased to function and the Cruise Control and distance sensor light (which normally lights green when engaged) is permanently red. My local independent VAG garage in Northampton have diagnosed the fault as the Radar Camera. They have quoted £3000 for a replacement. They say second hand ones won't work as the camera has to be programmed to the car. Can anyone help ? Is there someone who does reconditioned ones? Is the one on the car mendable? Many thanks. George
  11. Thanks Joe. Just didn’t want to resort to brute force and ignorance and wreck the thing. Thanks for the info…much appreciated. 👍
  12. Hi. I’ve just bought a pre registered A3 Black edition (74 plate). There is a compressor and tyre puncture kit in the boot in a polystyrene holder on the bottom right hand side of the boot. I kept my previous A3’s space saver wheel (2018 plate) and it doesn’t fit because of the polystyrene foam insert. Is there an easy way to get this insert out as the tyre should fit if it was moved. There seems to be a plastic button like thing holding it to the boot but don’t want to wreck it if there’s a way of removing it without damage. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙏
  13. Just back from garage , defo wheel bearing not sure if right or left , can't hear it spinning wheels by hand , but right was done last year so I think its the left same side as cv joint was replaced on . Being done in 3 weeks , said its safe out to drive until then no play in wheels.
  14. It would appear that the poster is a 2 year subscriber, and it seems he cannot be warned for posting and never returning! Unless I have it wrong - let’s hope I have. So if anyone wants to adopt the same tactics then paying seems to be the way out of responding to requested advice! Correct?? Regards, Gareth.
  15. Had the same issue. Just give the polystyrene holder a firm pull and it will come out.
  16. Ha ha thanks that sounds very encouraging!
  17. Be sure John, something else will crop up to occupy a worrying mind!
  18. Thanks Glen, we take it you will post the result of the MOT.
  19. Ya there is definitely a noise there while driving , faint but there. Think its my OCD telling me its the worst thing ever ,like differential or transmission humming , when it could be just a wheel bearing on the way out . Its a case of wait and see if suppose.
  20. Thanks Jon, If it were mine, I would now put in in the ‘don’t worry about it box’ pending the car getting looked at by the garage. No disrespect, but you appear to be dealing with this in a patient and medical specialist basis, whereby you are trying to diagnose something you are about to pay others to diagnose for you. Regards, Gareth.

  22. Price lowered to 2k. Mot due in July and I will be putting a fresh one on. V5 is present aswel
  23. Glad you got sorted in the end 🙂
  24. Even though you're out of the 30 days you're still covered under the consumer law. If a fault occurs with a car or item in the first 6 months of purchase it is assumed the fault was there from when it was purchased. My brother is going through this now and getting his car fixed free of charge. It needed an abs pump (£3k bill!).
  25. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 looks a nice Audi 🙂
  26. Outside of 30 days still under warranty (not a great one might I add) £40ph labour and upto £350 per claim
  27. I think it might be slightly louder when steering right , so im thinking left hand bearing , only very slightly louder , to be honest if the radio is on you'd hardly hear it , so im thinking its only getting rough rather than gone . Its booked in for a service in 3 weeks so im hoping it should last until then . At least now I know its not the tyres , the tyre shop gave the 2 that were on the car a good check and confirmed that the tyres weren't the problem, so my garage wants to check it tomorrow to confirm but won't be able to do the job until 3 weeks time . To be honest I've had bearings in the past that would drown out the radio . The noise stays while coasting so it shouldn't be a gearbox bearing as its there with no load and the gearbox is acting very normal , so im thinking for sure wheel bearing .
