Auto gearbox
Hi all I’m having issues with my auto gearbox. The tcu got fried because of water damage from the drain being blocked. I got another gearbox from fitted it still no joy. I’ve been told the fluid transmission pump had failed. Can any help or advise me on what I can do or does anyone have another gearbox? Thanks Gary

B7 RS4 Purchase
Fair enough Steven - you must obviously do what you want with your money, but I must say, I’m still rather confused about your concerns on the car’s future depreciation. If you love the car then that is fine, but beware what they say about love. I genuinely wish you well with fulfilling your dream. Regards, Gareth.

B7 RS4 Purchase
Hi. Thanks Spartacus 68 for the detailed reply. The car has exceptional history with a sizeable history folder with a recent major service and a change of all fluids totalling €2,000. Added to this , i have also spoken to two of the specialists who maintained the car wh⁹ say they cannot fault the car and say its spotless underneath with no corrosion noted. These cars are thin on the ground here in Ireland and to find an original Irish car is even rarer. Importing from the UK is not an option as it would cost more with all of the import charges. Crazy import charges here now with Nox. VRT. and VAT. Csr tax on this is €1800 a year, not sure what it would be in the UK. From speaking to the dealer , i can get the car for €45,000 for a straight sale. The only reservation i have is future mileage hurting the resale value if i were to ever resell. Some thinking to do!

Oil Sump Damage
Oh dear Russell, Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but you have just demonstrated that lowering an already low vehicle is impractical. Anyone car only guess at the reason for the now non start issue without inspecting the car, but you can possibly hang on to the hope it is something relatively simple such as a dislodged sensor etc. A photo of the extent of the damage to the sump might aid other ideas. Please keep us up to speed on developments, and meanwhile wish you all the good luck we hope you won’t need. Regards, Gareth.

Oil Sump Damage
Ive damaged my sump after lowering the car, whats th odds ive done some damage to the engine. Prior to the. breakdown No Noises just a cut out, i pulled over, the car was turning over but just wouldn't start. No smoke coming out just wont start. Waiting for the new oil sump to arrive, little panicked I've wrecked the engine after spending a ton on it.

B7 RS4 Purchase
B7 RS4s are indeed sought after, but here’s the rub. There are some beautiful examples out there, but there’s also some high milers, and that’s reflected in the price. They also need to be driven, but I appreciate it would be a summer car, rather than daily driver. €50k is roughly £42k GBP. That’s top money, and I’m not convinced this car, although desirable necessarily falls into that camp. Again, just my opinion. Few reasons, I think the Avant is generally more sought after, especially when it comes to resale. In addition, colour is everything. Sprint blue is attractive as a factory colour, but Audi also made the RS4 in Imola Yellow, which is very rare under their Audi exclusive scheme which would have been a custom colour. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it has provenance having been used on the B5 RS4 Avant a few years earlier. History is everything too. To command a top selling price it needs documented history from new, all keys, and any remedial work such as a recommission if it’s been in storage, so basically it’s turn key and go. My advice for what it’s worth is to potentially travel and set up a few appointments. At the end of the day these are getting to be old cars, so pictures can be deceptive. What are undersides like, any corrosion? Also, do some research on parts availability.

Hi if you are a qualified mechanic all good but you will be very aware the same as I am that the only cars you will retain monetary value on are cars bought cheap with a problem, then having fixed said problem you may keep it for a while then sell it. Steve.

New member audi a3
Hello again Luke, It is evident you have returned to the forum a couple of times ( last about 20 hrs ago), but seem intent on not updating the forum on your current situation. Could you please have a read of ‘New members please read’ which you would have had access to when you joined, and then come back with the latest update. Thanks, Gareth.

B7 RS4 Purchase
Welcome Steven, Interesting! If I’ve got this correct, you are considering paying c£42k for a 2007 RS4 with a reasonable mileage of 82K on it over its 19 years, and you are more concerned about the depreciation during your ownership, than you are about the inevitable attention and costs incurred when purchasing any 19 year old. If RS4s are thin on the ground in ROI, then there are plenty of people trying to sell examples here on the mainland, and it seems £30K would give you a fair choice. I think we’ve all come across potential buyers who are prepared to spend many tens of thousands of £ s buying the vehicle of their choice, but get concerned about how many miles it does to the gallon! We try to be helpful on here, but if buying one of these is your dream then I would advise - just do it - you have the mechanical experience to take a chance. The economics are a different consideration, and a financial adviser would be your best choice on that. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Regards, Gareth.

MMI screen has no power.
My Audi A6 C7 has no power to the MMI screen. What I’ve checked so far is as follows: 1. 1. fuse. Ok 2. Done the reset. 3. Opened the dash board checked the blue/red and brown power connector, no power. 3. Peeled back the soft cable cover to the screen to check wires for damage. The red/blue had slight damage. Cut and soldered, still no power. Now I’m really in a pickle. The radio, media, Bluetooth all work fine. It is just not getting power to light up the screen. Any ideas?

Audi Nuvolari arrives in London: a meeting of progressive design and innovation
The Audi Nuvolari, the brand’s first high-performance hybrid supercar, made its UK debut in London ahead of a public display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this week. With 1,001 PS and a top speed exceeding 217 mph (350 km/h), the Nuvolari is set to become the most powerful and the fastest production vehicle in the history of the four rings. In the Nuvolari, Audi’s technical excellence and craftsmanship combine with a new design language where every decision serves a clear purpose, and nothing is purely decorative. “London is a city known for pushing boundaries of technology, design, and innovation, all traits that are deeply embedded in the Audi Nuvolari,” said Audi UK director, José Miguel Aparicio. “Audi’s record for producing groundbreaking cars stretches back decades, from the engineering prowess of the Ur-quattro to the timeless design of the TT coupe. The Nuvolari represents our next leap forward – a true lighthouse for technological innovation.” The Design: a new philosophy for a new era The Nuvolari will be Audi’s first production car on the road to debut the new design philosophy, led by Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella. Characterised by taut surfaces and precise lines, every decision has a purpose, nothing is decorative. That approach also extends to the interior, which is entirely focused on the task of driving. The Location: Audi Nuvolari meets London A global hub for design, culture, and innovation, London provides a fitting backdrop for the Nuvolari’s UK debut. From the architectural diversity of the City to the high-end streets of Mayfair and Kensington, the Nuvolari’s bold, monolithic form stands out in one of Europe’s leading design capitals – reinforcing the connection between progressive automotive design and the capital’s creative excellence. The Technology: Formula 1 innovations hit the road The Nuvolari is the first high-performance hybrid supercar from Audi. With this model, the brand is making a deliberate move into the high-performance segment and staking its claim to be the most desirable premium automotive brand. Based around a new innovative Audi Space Frame with carbon exterior, the Nuvolari pairs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with three axial flux electric motors for total system output of 1,001PS. It can accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 217mph. Quattro predictive ride is the next generation of quattro drive, one of Audi’s defining innovations. By continuously evaluating detailed sensor data it extends the limits of vehicle dynamics through anticipatory, system‑wide control. Formula 1 mindset has played a central role in both development and engineering of the Nuvolari. Carbon fibre components , lightweight design, and active aerodynamics with a Drag Reduction System (DRS) are all derived from motorsport. The high‑end Audi ceramic pro braking system, which uses long-fibre construction for extreme heat resistance, transfers Formula‑1‑inspired technologies into a production vehicle. The Name: A tribute to a fearless racer The name of Audi’s high-performance hybrid supercar is derived from Tazio Nuvolari, one of the most prominent figures in the history of motorsports. To this day, the Italian is remembered for his fearlessness, ingenuity, and single-minded will to succeed.

Thanks Steve, what i meant is that i would like to retain as much monetary value in the car as possable. I am well aware of the problems some of which i planned to deal with myself as i am a qualified mechanic.

Hi just looked at the price, are you insane, you could get so much more for that sort of money or something new and twice as good for about half that.

B7 RS4 Purchase
Hi if you as you say are not well off why are you after a car like this the recent service bill should give you a clue, these cars are big money to run and parts are scarce therefore commmand a premium even second hand well used parts, as for holding the value I think not, you may well have a hard time selling it when it has a few more miles, why do you think the two previous owners sold it on, its called cutting before any major bills, at that milage the problems are not far away, take your money and buy something newer preferably not Audi. Steve.

Brake servo restricted
Facing the same servo restricted issue, but some strange behaviour after replacing the sensor. Initial fault codes: UO41600: Invalid Data Received From Vehicle Dynamics Control Module Status: Test failed, Test failed (current drive cycle) U041500: Invalid Data Received From, Anti-Lock Brake System Control Module Status: Test failed, Test failed (current drive cycle) Replaced with an Amazon sensor. Immediately restarted and fault codes were: UO41600 + U041500 as above. Time corresponds to after replacing. CO54B00: Vacuum Sensor "A" Circuit Low Vacuum_Sensor_1:_Line_is_low Time corresponds to after replacing. I then cleared the codes (with Car Scanner app, not VCDS) and now have this: UO41600 + U041500 as above. 264448 Status: Test failed, Test failed (current drive cycle) From module 03 ABS control unit. (264448 preceded the CO54B00 code above, but this doesn't have any more details). Would appreciate any suggestions as to my next options. At the moment I am considering: Complete a normal drive cycle (although worried about bricking the ABS). Try clearing the codes with VCDS (although previous posts here suggest clearing codes shouldn't even be necessary). Try refitting the sensor, checking wires and the o-ring. Get another sensor (likely not aftermarket from Amazon).

B7 RS4 Purchase
Hi, New to the site and i am looking for an b7 RS4 here in Ireland. I have my eye on one here in Dublin but the mileage is 82,000 miles. The car has tons of history and is the colour i want. The price is quite high but i am hesitant the increased mileage will devalue the car in a number of years if i ever sell it. I plan to drive the car during the summer months and store it during the winter months. I would ideally like the car to hold its value if possible during my ownership but i feel if i go over the 100k the car will be less desirable. I am not well off by any means and this car is a big purchase for me hence i would like it to at least hold its value. I would be interested in anybody's thoughts on mileages versus values. RS4's are thin on the ground here in Ireland and it is not feasible to import a car due to import charges VAT ect. https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/audi/rs4/fpa/4480166#DealerStockList

Q5 Audi TFSI 2018 - Engine Rebuild
Thank you very much for your replies - this is all very helpful. The service history is as follows: Date of Service Type of Service Vehicle Mileage 05/12/2025 Inspection Service 67,379 01/08/2024 Oil Change Service 61,162 04/08/2023 Used Car MPC 56,479 04/08/2023 Oil Change Service 56,479 04/08/2023 Brake Fluid Change 56,479 11/02/2022 MOT (passed) 43,772 23/08/2021 Interval Service 38,706 04/09/2020 Interval Service 29,582 13/11/2018 Oil Change Service 9,753 I bought the car in August 2023 and its had one oil change since I've had it with one inspection service. These cars don't even have a dipstick so you cant check the oil is clear when it comes out of an oil change service I bought it from a main dealer in good faith and I suppose you assume with a full Audi service history that they would have changed the oil more regularly. Seems I was dead wrong to assume
