  2. Thanks Joe, do you perhaps know if an engine top cover is available for my 2026 A3?
  3. Engineer from Audi road service called but was completely baffled by the problem. He scanned the vehicle and found a number of "U" codes which he said means parts of the electronics were not communicating with each other. He was astonished the Audi dealer was too busy to look at the car especially as it is only 5 weeks old. He said he would contact Audi customer services directly as see what could be done to resolve the issue and to get the dealer to do the job they are supposed to do. I'll keep you posted on any developments.
  4. If you’ve had S Tronic gearbox service (every 38k miles), and you have VCDS, then I would do gearbox adaption calibration in basic settings. Few videos as mentioned. Try than and see if any improvement.
  5. If you’re going to the bother of doing transmission, then nothing wrong with doing front and rear diffs. They should be fine until 100k, but they only take 2-3 litres, so hardly going to break the bank. The Tiptronic box is a different story, 8 litres of special ATF.
  6. Battery should be 12.4v minimum. If it’s original battery you’ve done well. Replacement is AGM type, and coded to the car, vented, etc.

  9. The battery is not fine, it is almost dead. Ensure you get the new one coded to the car. I wouldn't trust the clowns at Kwikfit any more than those at Halfords.

  13. Audi A6 2015 ultra 2.0tdi auto: Was driving and had orange glowplug light come on, car immediately went into limp mode and engine light also on. Parked the car and turned it off for couple of min. Came back and when i started car the glowplug light was there but this time with orange airbag light aswell, still on after clearing. plus TPMS warning+ ESC came on for 5/10 seconds. First thing i did was get battery tested and was told its fine , LOWEST VOLTAGE: 10.18v ( not sure if this ok but was told by lad at kwikfit it passed their test) CHARGING TEST LOAD ON : 13.47 V PASS DIODE RIPPLE :0.11 V PASS What are your insights? (The p2002 has been on for the past week and car is booked in to get that sorted)

  16. Not the cheapest, but reviews say its a good battery, but time will tell
  17. As a first step get the battery tested on deep discharge testing equipment. A dying battery could be your problem.
  18. My 2008 A4 Avant has decided that it does not like Hot Weather! Yesterday I went out it started fine but when it was time to retune home it would not start. The ignition came on but on turning the key all dash lights stayed on, with no clicking from the starter motor, as there is with a flat battery.. This is not the first time this has happened it did during the last "Heat Wave" but returned to 'normal service when the weather changed! Anyone got any ideas of what may be the cause?

  20. As suspected, the central air flap motor is defective according to VCDS.
  21. The usual problem is loss of refridgerant gas through a leak. I suggest you have that checked as a first step. Aircon specialists will probably serve you better than an Audi dealer.
  22. Thank you Wayne. It's a shame the car has reached the end of its economic life, but it happens to all cars eventually. Mine was a year younger than yours but it got to the point that an expensive gearbox repair, plus the rising cost of fuel, made it unviable to keep it running.

I have a 2019 Audi Q5 Black Edition and I have problem with my aircon. The temperature yesterday 18 June inside the car was 30 degrees and I was stuck in a traffic jam and tried every setting I could think of to get cool air but end result was just more warm air. I was wondering if anyone else has had zircon problems and how was in fixed? Thanks
  25. Actually having slept on it I am going to donate the car to the children's air ambulance for them to auction it off. It will make a decent runabout for someone willing to take a chance on it.

  27. Clifford, I have a full time job of 60 hours a week and time is of a premium being a family man. Hence the delay. The car went into VWGS in Stirchley, Birmingham and spent a week with those chaps, after obtaining two referrals from Chat GPT. They were a young team with plenty of Audi/VWs to work on. The feedback was that machine diagnostics found no fault (Like Audi dealership) they had suspected DPF delete has been effected due to lack of data!! Inspected hoses, suspect turbo or DPF faulty. Once permission was given to investigate further they found DPF internals ok, Vacuum tested all lines/ to and from Turbo and EGR . Removed boost pipes and inspected internals. Turbo turbine play, oil puddling in boost pipes, excessive oil in intercooler. Recommend new turbo and intercooler clean/replacement required. Re the steering noise inspected power steering pump and found leak from pump area with suspect hose leaking, further investigation required to establish exact location. I requested the car back because of work duties and to think things through. On Wednesday the belts ruptured around the alternator and the Clutch pulley was U/S after lifting the bonnet. I contacted the AA and asked them to get me home about 800 meters and I would scrap the car. AA technician turned up and begged me not to scrap the car as it's a stunner for its age and will do another twenty years if I am prepared to spend the dosh. We are looking at £3,000 with every thing followed by MOT soon. Some tough decisions to make now and my current leaning is to admit defeat as I cannot be without reliable transport. My colleague at work gave his BMW 3 series coupe to a young mechanic down south to work on so I think I will do similar, or send it to Africa where they can attach an OX with a bell round its neck to pull it along. Vorsprung OX Technik has a certain ring to it. Thanks for your input gents I have told my clients about your web site and the advice given above. It's very much appreciated. I don't think I will ever drive a car as solid, strong and reliable again as this. £20K for 20 years amazing reliability. Simply Stunning.

  29. I'd say it is more likely related to power steering than AC.
  30. Primed pressurised fuel lines can hold 1-2 litres (diesels). For context I’ve got the 73 litre tank capacity. I’ve ran my tdi 40 unintentionally to 12 mile range (according to dashboard) I filled up and put 61 litres back in. so I knew that I had well over 10 litres in the tank but as others have said your destroy the pump and most likely be sucking up debris that unfortunately does get through petrol pumps. Not recommended to let it go below 1/4 of a tank if you can.
  31. I’d thought I’d check in on this as my tdi 40 is now coming up to 3 years old. My a/c is always on during summer without fail. This is the first time I’ve ever heard this, this loud. I normally can mainly hear it in the cabin when turning steering wheel on full lock, you know that a/c moan/groan sound. it sounds like the condenser fan blowing, picks up pitch and rhythm with rev counter. So I’m going to assume it’s probably belt related. Anyone experienced this? I’ve booked it in but typical main dealer response ‘ this is fairly normal’ ‘have you added refrigerant in the last 12 months’ For context it was regassed last year even though I had no concerns I just do it given that I know the gas will leak and also lubricates the system.
  32. Hi try reading the MAF and MAP sensor readings on live data when cold start, I would guess it could be the MAF sensor if its the original unit as they tend to play about when they get old. Steve.
  33. Thanks Paul, Never heard of that brand - let’s hope it turns out good - and lasts. I don’t go for good deals (cheap) on quality-critical batteries, but aim to get respected brands at competitive prices. Regards, Gareth.
  34. Not fixed yet the Audi dealer is too busy to look at it however they did advise NOT to turn the stop start off, so far so good it hasn't shut down again but despite being on the stop start doesn't work as it should, the engine ticks over without stopping. I appreciate the advise to contact Audi road service so I'll give them a call. Thanks everyone for the helpful comments.
