Cruise Control Retrofit & VCDS

Featured Replies

Morning all, first post on here!

I'm looking to retrofit cruise control to my 2004 A3 2.0 TDI.  I've got the multifunction display with the reset button on the wiper stalk but no steering wheel controls, so does that mean I've got the correct steering module already or not?

Also with VCDS, the RossTech ones are way of my budget but I've seen a couple around £50 claiming to work with the CAN on the 8P, has anyone tried those?  Or could anyone around Ipswich area code in the cruise for me for a few quid?

Thanks
Tom

Morning Tom. If I am right in thinking my 2007 2.0 TDI is the same model as yours, then you have the wrong stalk. Cruise control is on its own stalk to the left of the steering column. There are no wheel buttons.

Hi,

Yes the cruise stalk is separate, but there are several types of steering module and I've read conflicting things about which one is needed.

I've been told by the dealer that only cars with steering wheel buttons have the correct module for cruise.  But also read that just having the multifunction display is enough for the correct module, and I've seen quite a few with cruise and without steering buttons the same as yours.
