Markymark 21
Hi all. First post so be kind. I have a puzzle that I'm hoping members may be able to help me with. I need a front bumper for my A6 Avant le mans. Every parts company (Inc Audi) only want to sell me the s-line bumper not the one destroyed in a recent bash. My old bumper had a skirt along the bottom of it and had more angular form around the intake grills.
niedzial1983
What year is your car ? And is it an se or sline ? Pics ? Lemans did not had any special bumpers etc. It was based on sline version It is possible someone added an aftermarket spliter to the car
Markymark 21
It's a 2010 model s-line le mans edition. Had a bump and sent the car off for repairs and it came back with another bumper on it! This went to court and I won but now can't find another bumper like it. Here's a pic of the car just after the accident. It's possible the car was modified after it left the factory (is that how they changed it to a le mans edition?), but now I need the part number or to source a second hand one. The car just doesn't look right.
niedzial1983
The pic shows an sline bumper period correct for 2009-2011 audi a6 c6. Lemans edition is : lemans 19" wheels , ambient lights, badges, heated front seats, volterra leather , pearl/metalic paint Have you got a pic of you bumper prior to the repair ? Markymark 21
That is a pic prior to repair. Note the red scuff on the wing.

niedzial1983
Same type of the bumper on both pictures , 2009-2011 sline
Markymark 21
From the pics it looks the same but the 'old' bumper had a skirt on the underside. Rubber I think. I know because I damaged it reversing out of my drive prior to the crash. On the 'new' bumper no such skirt exists. Nowhere even to attach it either. My mechanic agrees even. I took it to him to see if it was repairable
niedzial1983
The skirt is to protect the underside of the bumper when you park next to a high curb. Every bumper has this regardless if its sline or se. Its just missing ... Ask the garage to take it off the old one to put it on the new one
niedzial1983
Also why do you think its a new bumper ? Form the damage i can see the garage most likley did a smart repair buy blending in the paint. New oem bumoer is over 700£ so i doubt they spend all this money to ger a new one and spray it. Markymark 21
We took the new bumper off. There was no signs of repair to the structure just half of the bumper painted. Also, when I checked with VAG UK the part number they gave me (according to my reg number didn't match with what was printed on the new bumper. So with the skirt missing and the parts number discrepancy my assumption was that the bumper had been swapped for a second hand one with the damaged side Pai red to look like a repair had taken place Are you saying that the le mans edition bumper was no different from the s line? Neil Dickinsin
Just a thought have you looked at the cars on auto trader to compare as they have very good photos of all variations. Yes lemans bumper was no diffrent than sline . (There is no such a thing as a lemans bumper )
Markymark 21
Ok. Seems I've been wrong all along. Many thanks for your time on this. Seems I owe the garage an apology. Mark
niedzial1983
Just ask them to put the skirt back 🙂
Markymark 21
Think I've already burnt my bridges there. Gonna just tell the bodyshop to return the new OED bumper (it's identical to what's on bar the skirt) and respray the old one. Then at least the paint job will be right. Then I'll just close the book on the whole thing. I've been on with it since February
