Best AMI (2009 3GHDD) to iPhone 7 solution, GO

Featured Replies

I'd like to come up with a neat and tidy solution for my MMI (3G HDD, joystick, jukebox etc) to iPhone 7 (lightning).

There are three major points:

  1. It has to be able to transmit audio - currently, onboard Bluetooth will not frown.gif so I can't get Spotify/iTunes or Google Maps (Audi Nav isn't up to scratch with current traffic info)
  2. I need to be able to see maps, so the phone can't just be plugged into AMI and be kept in the glovebox - separate cradle needed - Ideally around the passenger air vent area, see pic.
  3. It needs to be chargeable when mounted.

Maybe the simplest solution is AMI>lightening but with some sort of extension to then go into a cradle?

I looked into Qi but then that means a permanent charging case and still no mount/audio option.
I currently have a Bluetooth to FM transmitter from my old car but signal is patchy, no charging option and still no mounting option.

Please help, my head is spinning!
I'd love to see what others have done and if there's a solution I can commandeer!
