BernardH
I recently bought an A4 B7 Avant TFSi Quattro, and it has a mixture of different tyre brands on it, so I'm planning to replace them all. The current tyres are 205/55 R16 (including the spare), but various on-line tyre places seem to suggest from the Reg. No. it should have 215/55 R16 fitted. (both sizes are listed on the tyre pressure plate (attached)) There doesn't seem to be a size/part number on the rims (is there somewhere to find this ?) Should I stick with the current size, or is the 10mm width upgrade possible/worthwhile ? Thanks,
Neil Dickinsin
M+S are winter tyres, I would fit the 215/55/16 the 55 means the tyre wall height in % of width. So running 205 tyres will give you a slightly smaller overall diameter so will show less mpg.
BernardH
Thanks Neil, that makes sense! I guess M+S is for Mud&Slush ? Looks like I'm going to have to replace all 5 tyres (inc. spare), I guess the dealer has pulled a fast one, and just put on 5 of the cheapest part-worn tyres that will fit ... :-( Does anyone know if there should be a size/part number anywhere on the alloy wheels just to check they're the correct ones for the car (and not from an A3 or perhaps some other VAG car ?) Neil Dickinsin
The should be J code and some other digits stamp on the inside if the rim.
