I was wondering whether anyone has an understanding of how the rear seat backrest release mechanism works - specifically the spring/auto drop part of it? The release levers in the boot appear to function correctly, but one side of the rear seat does not automatically drop down. There is also no tension on this failing side when lifting the backrest back into the upright and secured position. The other side works fine and you can feel it tensioning before it locks in.
