Advice on A4 B7 satnav upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just sold my golf and bought a 2009 A4 Cabriolet which I’m totally in love with, except for the hideously out of date satnav unit. This technology is incredibly dated, but I’m sure I don’t need to say anymore.

Hi guys, just sold my golf and bought a 2009 A4 Cabriolet which I’m totally in love with, except for the hideously out of date satnav unit. This technology is incredibly dated, but I’m sure I don’t need to say anymore. I’ve just repaired the broken glove box hinge in order to get the lamp inside working. That was a bit of a pig

My question is, when I remove the unit it has a quad lock plug on the back. I bought an Audi symphony double din CD player with tape deck from a 2006 car, with the intention of having it fitted.

I’ve been told by a reputable installer that it can’t be done because the plugs on the back are not the same, and there are some issues regarding amplification which I really don’t understand. Before I send this unit back to the eBay seller, is anybody able to confirm that what I’ve been told is true? Any help at all would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
