Clutch to the floor on Q3 under warranty, recovered to Audi main dealer, 20000 Miles on clock, unbelievable result!

I have owned it for 8 months, having bought from the Audi main dealer in Exeter with 15000 on the clock and 1 previous owner. I have done 5000 Miles in it.
Audi Exeter have today informed me that the pressure plate "is currently deformed as a result of overheating, We have also found that the dual mass flywheel is worn and also has heat spots present. This means that it hasn’t been a mechanical failure of the vehicle, this would be caused by an external influence."

They have told me that it isn't covered by the Audi warranty and it will cost me £2858 to have it repaired.

To say I am gobsmacked is an understatement as the AA man who recovered me said the clutch pedal going to the floor was a common problem and it is the clutch master cylinder rubbers normally.

Has anybody else experienced this, has anybody any suggestions, how long should a clutch last? This is quite unbelievable! The garage have said that I must have been riding the clutch or driving with my foot on the clutch, neither of which I do.

If the master cylinder rubbers were faulty is it possible that the pedal was not disingaging the clutch properly?

Whst external factors have they said it could be? Id definitely be speaking to Audi customer service. And it certainly should not have gone in 5k miles.  When I've had issues with main dealers I get a second opinion from another main dealer. Alternatively I'd be getting specialist advice from an independent Audi garage for their opinion.

You could always contact the motoring ombudsman.
