Hi if thats the number they gave you it should be fine, if not that will be their problem.

Thanks Steve but they asked me to order the part because they couldn’t find it. Except from Audi directly and there was a 4 month wait and £1800 just for propshaft

Hello Gavin,

Do I understand you are paying £1800 for a propshaft for your 12 year old car. You don’t tell us what the symptoms are, so I guess you have confidence in the garage who say you will need a new, one to cure your issues. 
Of course Steve is right when he in effect says you don’t have to worry about part numbers etc. and whether it’s the right one or not - the dealer’s responsibility to provide you with the correct one. Your worry is to arrange the mortgage! 
Apologies for one of these ‘Purple Bricks’ moments, but you could have tried searching for propshaft reconditioning services (possibly even in your area) before committing to buying a new one? Still, deed done now.

Hi Gareth my local garage is owned by a family friend he’s great at the basic stuff but he’s very busy. He found the part from Audi but it cost £1800 and a 4 month wait! He said if I can find it cheaper then do it. The propshaft centre bearing has gone, I found a new one but they couldn’t get my old bearing apart so I’ve sent that back and have now ordered the whole prop got the part number from the old one but the supplier thinks it won’t fit? Thanks 

Thanks Gavin, but I’m still favouring the reconditioning of  your original shaft by a specialist.
