Q3 advisories

Featured Replies

Hello

going to look at an Audi tomorrow that had the following advisories.

How much would these bits cost to replace?

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
Offside Front Inner Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Offside Front Shock absorbers has light misting of oil (5.3.2 (b))
Offside Rear Coil spring corroded (5.3.1 (b) (i))

 cheers

Hello Gary,

Your best bet is to ring a local independent and ask for prices for:-

Supply and fit off side suspension wishbone.

Supply and fit pair of front shock absorbers. (would not advise to just change one).
Rear spring corroded ? Depends how badly, and again change as pair.
What is the service history like on the vehicle?
Are you buying locally? If not, consider the impracticality of getting any warranty work done.
Last V5 issue date? ( available on DVLA Vehicle check). This should indicate how long the last owner has owned it. Short length ownership would be iffy.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Will speak to my garage today.

How does the servicing work on these? All on the computer and recorded online with Audi? There was no service book with it.

Hello Gary,

Not quite sure what you mean by ‘how does the servicing work on these?’

Question:- when was the last recorded service , and what parts ( filters etc.) were changed then?
What mileage has it done and what is your anticipated annual mileage? These answers will influence its service schedule going forward.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

In terms of there not being a book that’s stamped, so I presume it’s all online with Audi.

i see according to the computer an oil change is due at 8k, but that’s it.

my bmw shows when brakes, oil, mot on the i-drive.

should I also contact Audi and get the details changed on the Audi for recalls etc?
i presume they hold the service history too?

Done  51k and last service was cam belt

26/04/2019 - Brake fluid service
(Covid hit so service had to be delayed)
13/07/2021 - Brake fluid service and inspection with oil change
23/08/2021 - Replaced cambelt, replaced sump
08/04/2022 - Rear tyres replaced
05/08/2022 - Replaced nearside coil spring

Hello Gary,

Many thanks, but you confuse me, and I’m well capable of confusion myself!
The history is jibberish in my system.
When you say ‘I presume it’s all online’ - yes it should be, and I thought you had confirmed a full service history before buying it, and would have requested print outs for your satisfaction.

’An oil change is due to 8k miles’ - does that mean in 8 K miles on from its current mileage?
It will hopefully make sense when you present readable copy of the service history.
Kind regards,

Gareth.
