Featured Replies

Can anyone shed some light on this look like the mileage has been tampered with is there anything I can do to fix this?

Hello Ronald,

Welcome and thanks for joining.

Could you fill in some background details for us.
Have you recently bought the vehicle?

Have you carried out an MOT history check, that should have shown up any unusual changes in annual mileages covered?
Have you obtained a copy of the car’s service history?
Could be it’s had a change of ECU -? ?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Yeah got it last week everything seem to match there’s a few service certificates as well that matches the dealer sent me the hpi report he done on the car before he bought it and that matches up as well

Thanks Ronald,

‘Service certificates’ confuses, since servicing should be recorded on the VAG computerised system, and you can/should? request a print out copy at your local main dealer - armed with the VIN Incase the car has been registered on a private plate, for example, at some time.

Have you done an on-line MOT history - although it’s probably only had one?
Kind regards,

Gareth.
p.s. I would certainly inform the seller of what you have found.

So just go into Audi for the service history? And yeah it’s had 3 mots which all seem normal to the mileage it’s on now. I called them they said they had no knowledge of it all there checks come back fine they have given me some money back witch at first a was happy but not to sure about it now as seems like it could be a potential headache in the future thanks for your input on this

Personally, I would not accept any money, since it could be seen as compensation, and a pay off. I find it odd that they would have offered you anything.
Yes, visit your nearest main dealer and ask if they would be kind enough to give you a service history print out. They may ask to see copy of the V5 in your name - as proof of ownership.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

So another update on this the dealer sent the car to his Audi specialist could have been his best friend for all I know and said it’s had a refurbished ecm and transmission excepting me to go pick the car up on his word av demanded documents of proof from the garage that fitted them it’s been 2days and still waiting on the email with the invoice looks like it’s going to be messy to recover my money and to make things worse av been without a car for 3days

So have you yet attempted to get a service print out via. an Audi specialist?
I did mention the possibility of a replacement ECU having been fitted.
Sorry to be make a suggestion of bad news, but it looks like the reading on your odometer does not represent the distance this car has covered.

Yeah I went to Audi the printed me off the service history all the numbers match up but no record of any refurbished parts so the odometer has been tampered with do you think even if he comes back with records of the replacement?

Your choice I guess, but it appears it has been subjected to some form of ‘mileage correction’ at some time, if the infirmation can be substantiated. Two things to consider:-

The car will have a lower value due it it’s higher mileage.
The car shouldn’t be resold with any indication that the odometer mileage is correct, so this will obviously limit its selling appeal, and again devaluate it.

As I see it, you will have the option to reject the car within 30 days and to receive a full refund.

Two things that remain unclear from your original post:-

When did you actually buy it?
What diagnostic system have you used that provides you with the data in your opening post?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

It was ma friend that had the Carista this is the recipe of the work done could this make the numbers the way they are

What are you trying to tell us Ronald?
Is this to support a theory that the odometer is correct, but the car was fitted with a refurbished gearbox which had covered a higher mileage -?
You haven’t said when you bought it.
Kind regards,

Gareth.
