HUD Distortion

Featured Replies

I have a 2012 A7 Prestige and this HUD distortion has just happened. Dealer told me it was the projection unit and it has to be replaced. Quoted me over $5K for the unit, which apparently is back-ordered from Germany and could take months to arrive. They also want another grand to do the installation. Windshield must be removed.

The dealer had just finished fixing my adaptive cruise control, which took months! They said they did not touch the HUD, but I don't believe them. I suspect it was something that happened during the other repair that "zapped" the HUD projector.

Anyone have info on this?

Is this warranty work on an approved used car?

It doesn't look like any coherent pic is being transmitted - just a splash of light... 🤨

I have no experience of this HUD, but I have owned a few aftermarket ones (Hudway)...
