RS5 2011 DRC oil leak

After hitting some nasty potholes, my RS5 developed a knocking noise at the NSR. After several investigations and search’s I found a pinhole in the hydraulic hose on the FOS just below the crimp where it goes into the valve block. I have removed the hose but not before shearing of both steel pipes in the process. The bottom one (hose to strut) I can fix and probably the top one too (hose/valve to main pipe line) it’s starting to look expensive bearing in mind the other 3 corners could/will be in a similar condition. What is the best route to take? I really wanted to keep the car factory standard because it’s the last one in UK in Imola Yellow that’s in factory spec (only 2 came into UK in 2011 in Imola yellow and the other one has been altered). Saying that, can I fit non DRC dampers and leave all the pipelines and whatever else in situ with a view to putting it right in the future?IMG_6395.thumb.jpeg.0979ae53d68955fdd960a3ea953b5263.jpeg

Yes that would be ideal to fit original parts but that hose is £308 then filling the system about £250 or more, and the other 3 corners are in similar condition. If the dampers are damaged then that adds to the cost and I don’t have that sort of money to keep spending at the moment. I would like a solution that fixes the problem and allows me to go back to original at some point in the future. 
Perhaps my question should have been what dampers can I fit so I can drive the car  and is it ok to keep the rest of the DRC system in tact but sealed off for future use.

Is there anyone on here with tech experience that can help me please. 
the part for my car is A8K0616712A and it’s £348

part number 8W0616715 looks to be the same part with all the port angles in the same position as mine but it’s only £53. 
 

can someone who knows, tell me if they are the same, what the difference is or at least if it will do the job.

1 year on Gary, are we still talking about the damaged hose?? 
I could be proved wrong, but I would be very surprised if anyone on here would have the been-there-done-that experience to be able to give you a meaningful answer. 

A couple or so possibilities:-

Buy it and try it, on the basis that if the £53 part works and is adequate - great!

If it doesn’t  - £53 gambled and lost.

Take your failed hose along to a commercial vehicle hydraulics specialist, and talk to them about replicating yours.

Thanks Gareth, yep the part is already ordered and I will update as I find out. As dealer prices go, at £150 it’s half the price which in my mind is worth exploring. A flex pipe is a flex pipe right, only difference is the ports angles and length.

No problem Gary, but where does the now £150 figure come from - was £53 -? 
Agreed that a flexible pipe is indeed a pipe that flexes, but what pressure is this subjected to? That’s just one factor to consider.

Good morning, yep I can see that might be confusing, brand new original on eBay £53 still in packaging. Dealer price for same £150. 
working pressure of DRC is system is 20bar and flexible brake hose from what I can see are between 60bar and 200bar so I don’t think pressure is an issue. The eBay purchase is designed for the same job just a later model.

I’m glad you admit to the confusion. It does help, since I’m quite capable of confusing myself, without outside aid. 
Now just to get this clear- you are using a flexible brake hose on some hydraulic system-?

Ok, the correct hose for my car is £304 on eBay, £348 from dealer.

IMG_7253.thumb.jpeg.16ea94b706a2c6fab6d68556bcfbe557.jpegso the hose I’m going to use is £53 on eBay or £150 from a dealer, it’s a DRC hose from a RS5 2018 onwards rear left. So it’s doing exactly the same job but its configuration happens to be the same as I need for my 2011 front right. 
It just arrived and it’s a little longer than mine but I’m sure that will be ok. 

I have been following this topic yet it is still not clear to me:

1/ if the hose in question is on the brake system or something else,

2/ what the hose has to do with the knocking noise that started the topic.

this is suspension.

when the Dynamic Ride Control has reduced or loss of pressure it causes a knocking noise at the rear, at least on RS4 and RS5. The hose in question is the flexible hose connecting the control cylinders to the shock absorber. They connect nsf to osr and osf to nsr. 

I’ve found a different hose from a later RS5 which is the same all be it a little longer. It’s £53 compared to £304.
