Intermittent Steering Noise - Audi Q7 MK2 2016

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I have just purchased an Audi Q7 in what appears to be very good condition, but after 45 minutes of driving the Steering starts to make an annoying sound and the feel of the steering wheel becomes less smooth. Almost like the Power Steering begins to struggle and creaks & groans.

It is very annoying and I was wondering what the issue could be?

Am I correct in thinking that the MK2 version does not use conventional Hydraulic Power Steering but Electric Power Steering? If so what could the issue be?

Would like to upload a video with sound but can't on this forum 😞

Cheers

Welcome Tom and thanks for joining.
Have a search of the forum, and you should come up with a recent thread on the same sort of symptoms - turned out to be a dry universal joint on the steering shaft.
Have a look and please let us know what you think.
Kind regards,

Gareth.
