Recommendations for professional engine rebuild

Featured Replies

My 2016 Audi A6 Allroad 3.0 CRTE engine has seized after a few miles from collection from a garage who replaced the timing chain kit using genuine parts. They have left me in a real mess and unwilling to take any responsibility for the engine failure. I am looking for reputable companies that can rebuild the engine (if the block intact) ideally the midlands but willing to go further if they are super reliable. I am not after a cheap fix. I want to get this done to a top standard and willing to wait. There are many cowboy internet sites and some of the reviews are shocking. Im not looking to get involved with another low skilled company again.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am pursuing their public liability insurance via a Solictor however either way I need to get it fixed to sell. Many thanks

Hello Duncan,

Sorry to hear of your problem.

The age of engine reconditioners has long since passed, as engines are generally capable of covering high mileages, and usually only meet their demise via. catastrophic failure - as with yours. Those who remain mainly do so to feed the upper end of the classic car movement.

In effect, I think your solution has to rest with the salvage outlets , but I do appreciate your concerns in this direction.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Seems possible to refurb subject to extent of damage. Just looking for the best solution ideally. Horror stories of exchanged engines and the problems never go away.

Thanks Duncan,

So I guess you have confirmation of that elsewhere, and found someone who will do that, and had some sort of quotation - ?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Anything is possible if you throw enough money at it, but I doubt you would recover the cost of a fully rebuilt engine in the sale price of the car. Alternatively you could buy a secondhand engine from a car breaker at lower cost, but any guarantee he might provide will be essentially worthless. Is that a risk you are willing to take?

It's a sad fact of modern life that it is often cheaper to renew damaged goods that it is to repair them. I suggest you look at sellling the car in its present state, after getting quotations for repair to the standard you want.
