Featured Replies

Hi All

Just ran a scan through Carista, and a couple of error codes gave popped up and need some help undersranding if possible:

1. Battery regulator:
02272 - Static current stage 1 (through to stage 6)
Freeze frame
Priority: 7
Malfunction frequency counter: 64
Unlearning counter: 255
Odometer reading: 160246.6 miles

2. Infotainment display:
01319 - Control module for distance control: No signal/communication
Freeze frame
Priority: 5
Malfunction frequency counter: 1
Unlearning counter: 58
Odometer reading: 160285.8 miles
Date: 13 Dec 2024 08:21:39 pm

3. Central electronics:
01330 - Comfort system central control module: No signal/communication
Freeze frame
Priority: 2
Malfunction frequency counter: 2
Unlearning counter: 97
Odometer reading: 160283.9 miles
Date: 11 Dec 2024 09:04:00 am

4. 00466 - Steering column electronic systems control module: No signal/communication
Freeze frame
Priority: 2
Malfunction frequency counter: 1
Unlearning counter: 97
Odometer reading: 160246.6 miles
Date: 27 Dec 2007 03:55:00pm

My Understand/observations:

1. Battery in the car is a 70AH 640A battery, my understanding is its too small? (Previous owner installed this)
2. No idea lol
3. No idea
4. Related to 1? Battery underpowered for the cars systems?

Would appreciate any help/advice smile.gif

Hi sounds like the BEM unit on the negative lead is on its way out, but before condemning that I would make sure the battery is not failing as most low current faults stem from that except for the last fault which can only be described as vintage according to the fault date, what is the make of your existing battery? and I dont suppose you know if it was coded when fitted.

what is the BEM unit? I think the battery might be underpowered/failing as its only showing at 60%?

If a fault is vintage can it be repaired?

Battery make is a Goliath brand (Not familiar with battery brands at all) and Im not sure if previous owner coded it or not 😞

Hi the Battery Energy Module is the sensor on the negative lead that monitors charging and and the discharge rate of the whole system, Goliath is one of those cheap and nasty battery brands the same as Lion and Napa, the only ones you will see any longevity with are Bosch,Yuasa,Varta ,Exide if you code them in which is one of Caristas functions, the vintage fault you can just clear, there was a chap on here that had just bought VCDS and it threw up a lot of faults mostly over five years old so he just cleared them and that was the end of it, just replace the battery and code it and I am pretty sure all your problems will disappear.

Hi just make sure you clear the faults first then make a note of the original code then when you enter your new code use the old code but change the last two digits [numbers not letters] then press accept.

Steve.
