Rear Left Light

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I've been having trouble with my rear left LED light, it's the inner one on bootlid.

The original light ended up throwing up the fault so I bought a new unit. The new unit lasted about 2 years and the same fault popped up.

I'm on my third LED lamp now and 3 months later it's now showing up as a fault but it's intermittent sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

How can I fix this once and for all or what is the issue causing this?

Welcome Aaron,

Genuine VAG replacements or Chinese copies?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hello,

1 replacement was a copy and 1 genuine Valeo.

The Valeo OEM one is in it now. I noticed a tiny amount of moisture on the inside after washing the car last weekend.

The light is still under warranty but every light I put in seems to have the same issue. I even made sure the seal was good when putting it in and used some waterproof sealer. Still same issue.

Any help appreciated guys, I'm not sure what to do next.

Your only option is to get this one replaced under warranty and hope for the best Aaron.
If it were mine, I would also be getting the alternator output checked to ensure it’s not creating daftly over voltages.

Let us know how you get on.

That moisture is significant, and may indicate corroded contacts. There should be no moisture at all if the lamp is properly sealed. You could try spraying with contact cleaner, but I am not optimistic it will cure the problem.
