Audi A5 EGR cooler

Featured Replies

My EGR cooler needs replacing on my 2017 A5, other than a genuine Audi one, can anyone recommend another make? Thanks in advance.

Hi go on ebay there is a guy on there doing refurbed units with the valve for about £200, other than that you can buy an aftermarket cooler for around £300 and then the valve for about another £180, the refurb units are all genuine and a mate of mine bought one for his Skoda and to be honest you can't tell the difference except the price and they are all genuine VAG units, I think the company is called aft and has no bad feedback.

Steve.

the garage i took the car to rang VW, said £450 for the cooler, genuine Audi I've seen £650 online, then I've seen various other makes on Autodoc, Vemo £285, Nissens £189. I`ll take a look on ebay, i intend to keep the car, so wanted to put something decent back on, appreciate your help Steve, cheers.

Look at Darkside Developments, personally I wouldn't but car parts, especially critical ones from Ebay.

Ive had this problem for 4 months, 2017 2.0 A5 has done 59k, EML light first went on in November, garage did a DPF clean, EML light didn't come back on until I did a further 2k miles, its come back on a further 5 times, last time it took 400 miles to come back on, but the car has lost no performance, pick up and fuel economy absolutely fine, went through MOT no problem, emissions no problem,  if I needed a new EGR cooler, wouldn't I have issues? Could it be something else? a sensor?

It could be. If engine management light on, then the error that triggered it will be recorded. A scan with VCDS will reveal more.

Hi, did you get this sorted?  I have the P2002 error code, so I had a DPF technician come out to do a clean and he said the the DPF was working fine, its doing a regeneration every 600 km and it had in fact just completed one the week he came out.  He said the issue was the EGR cooler (his view) but also said it could just be a faulty sensor.  The car runs fine, no issues with fuel economy, I keep the ad blue topped up, no issues with performance etc.  The only other thing he said was the Ash build up was just under 40, but he said its normal for a car of my age.  My car is a 2017 A5 and has done 109k miles.
