John1567890 Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Hello just after buying 2003 C5 a6 avant I bought the car assuming ccm was the issue for all interior issues. Took it out and I was right but the connectors are destroyed with corrosion. I have a 2001 saloon a6 but the ccm does not match it is only one digit off on the part number the avant has an N and the sallon a K would I be able to use this ccm. I must now try to cut connectors off and solder in new connectors if somebody knows if these ccms are interchangeable that would be very helpful thanks
Steve Q Posted June 12 Posted June 12 They're not interchangeable. You need to swap the failed part out for one that has the exact same part number 1
John1567890 Posted June 12 Author Posted June 12 Okay thank you yes I was thinking that this would be the case alright would I be able to take connectors from the saloon and solder the wiring into the estate connectors the same and wires are the same colours going to each pin also after I replace the ccm will have to reprogram the ccm ?

Now that I'm not sure. It's a risk for sure. Might be smooth seeking the advice from an auto electrician on that one.

I replaced the CCM in my '03 A6 C5 1.9TDI with one that had the identical part number a couple of months ago and it was completely plug and play. Your key fobs will need to be reprogrammed however, but it's a really quick and straightforward job if you have two. I posted a guide in the C5 forum that explains it step by step. Hope that helps you mate. Edit I've just noticed the CCM in your avant ends in an N and the saloon in a K, weirdly the one in my saloon is an N, go figure. John1567890 Posted June 13 Author Posted June 13 Hello thanks for the advice the ccm ending in a K is only up to 2002 the saloon I have is a 2001 I have found a ccm online identical part numbers so I must get that ordered and now I must try and salvage a few of my connectors instead of having to rewire in all new ones I was thinking of trying to split the case of my own ccm and salvage it but when I got to the inside I can firmly say it is long gone unfortunately hahaha
John1567890 Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago Hello I ordered a ccm with identical part number from Germany took a while to come when I was buying it I asked the seller to cut the connectors off and give me a bit of wire to also work with when rewiring cut off my main black block connector and got my new connector and soldered it in I plugged in my new ccm and everything is working windows and also interior lights the doors aren’t locking I’m thinking due to the keys not being programmed will do that during the week with a vcds. Only main thing left to really do is fix my boosting issue I found the problem with the vacuum pipe which goes onto the nipple on the side of the tandem pump may try and use chemichal metal to reinforce the nipple and prevent the leak first before possibly replacing the pump .
Steve Q Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Sounds like you're getting there 🙂 keep us posted if the key reprogramming fixes the issue. 1
