Windscreen Wiper Arm Removal S5 2016

Featured Replies

Difficult to remove - tried puller - no joy.
please advise. Thanks Rob.

If a puller won't work it must be well stuck by corrosion. A risky but effective option is a gas torch. Alternatively cut a slit in the side and prise it apart, ensuring you don't damage the splines on the spindle.

Thank you for that info.  Only wanting off to re-spray the arms since they’re now a greyish colour/faded etc.

Given the likelihood of damage, I’d spay in situ. Just mask well with polythene sheeting. Lightly sand, rubbing alcohol wipe, etc.

if you’re determined to remove, plus gas penetrating release and try puller again. It needs a knock with a hammer to break the corrosion.

I’ve just recently removed the plastic caps for the arm retaining nuts. I’ve applied WD 40 in way of the nuts/arms hoping it will penetrate through to the splines. I will try in a few days …. Since I don’t use the vehicle too often.         I will advise if this works with the puller!
