I have a 2006 Audi A4 cabriolet. I love it but the ECU/ECC is water damaged. I haven't yet worked out where the water is coming from but I have worked out how to take out the ECU unit. I bought a second hand ECU with the right reference number but think it might be water damaged too but if anyone knows where you can buy ECU's I would be grateful.

My question is simple and yet a real pain. One of the connector's that you put in the ECU is really bad. However, I cannot take the wires out of the pin holes. Someone told me to get a pin tool and when I looked in to it, there are so many; one pin, two pin and all different sizes and types. The pins hold the wires and if you try to pull on them, they have something in them that stops it budging it. I get that but my God, it is a pain. Has anyone any idea of the pin tool I need to get it out. I'm at my wits end and don't want to pay £500 to a main garage to do ten minute jobs. Thank you in anticipation

Chances are it's two-pin. Laser tools will make something specific, but at £45 it's not the sort of thing you'd buy unless you're doing it all the time. Anything from Ebay should work, but as mentioned. look at some YouTube videos before you part with cash.

Hi you can probably get a repair connector with wires on line Just German  Parts do a fair range on eBay, is all you have to do is marry up the wires and make soldered connections with regard to the second hand ECU  just get one of the many repair places to check it out before fitting.

Steve.

I’m all for soldered connections too. Never did have much confidence in crimp connectors. I slide some shrink sleeve over one of the cables, moving it away from where the solder joint will be, then sliding it back over the soldered joint and shrink with a hair drier.

Thanks for all the responses. Sadly, to my woes, the brake has become so stiff and I need to focus on that. Please encourage to persevere as I have a soft spot for my old Audi but am I just going to get one thing after another? Thanks again

Any ideas why the brake is so stiff to press and what I can check before getting a mechanic on board
