Why does my fuel gauge lie to me?

I was thinking about this whilst filling up with E5 today. It shows me 575miles when the most I can get out of the car is 380 miles. Why does it lie? Is there a way to squeeze these mythical extra miles out of it?

Oops. I meant to put E10 as that's plain unleaded.

I did discover by accident that if I filled up with E5 (super unleaded) I got more miles. 460 miles I think, was the record.

I just have to work out if the extra miles are worth the extra cost.

I have a new A3 Black Edition auto. Within four weeks of delivery the engine cut out whilst driving, the drivetrain under positive power. The car rolled to a complete halt, the retardation entirely commensurate with the wheels driving a dead engine - it did not freewheel. The instrument panel remained powered and displayed no warning lights or fault messages. I shut the car down and after a pause restarted. Since then it has operated normally. I’ve had these wheels since I sold my old 2004 Allroad many years ago & now they’re just in the way, so if anyone wants them, they’re available in Weston-super-Mare! they were refurbished after I bought them, I used them as my summer wheels. I know 1 wheel had a chip in the lacquer, but that was it, they’ve been undercover in the garage ever since I Sold the car, So should be pretty much the same. free to collector if no takers I’ll have to scrap them.

Dear all. I have recently purchased a japanese Import 3.0 A6 Avant allroad. The MMI shows FM, AM and LW but no DAB. Is/was there an upgrade available from Audi or aftermarket when DAB became more commonplace.(Vauxhall offered DAB upgrade for my 2014 Zafira in 2015).

I've been seeing more and more posts across FB and multiple forums about people having the alternator failure related to the 48v mild hybrid system and wanted to see if anyone has had this issue and how their experience has been. I know in USA they have announced a TSB with an extended warranty for 7 years but I am trying to get more info from Audi UK but not getting anywhere. Hi can anyone help with this. I'm looking to code out the 'brake pad' wear limit reached message on dash. I managed to eliminate the orange brake light symbol when the message appears along with the audible by changing the long coding on VCDS but does anyone know where i can delete the message aswell on VCDS? New pads & discs fitted and also new genuine brake wear sensors but there seems to be that there might be a fault somewhere so im looking to de code it completley. See picture below

Hi, I'm looking for a engine/injector wiring loom that goes from the ECU (8P0 907 115 T Med 9.1) to the injectors (06F906036A) for a Audi A3 2008 2.0L TFSI Quattro due to an intermittent misfire issue on cylinder no. 4. Cost from TPS for genuine replacement is astronomical, any help would be appreciated (e.g. where to source a replacement, correct part no., etc)

Hi, following on from my previous thread, I have seen another car that I was interested in: https://www.evanshalshaw.com/search/details/used/audi/a5/automatic-petrol-white-coupe/06ce9494-f94d-f111-8fdd-000d3a874790/ When I enquired with the dealer, they said there is only one stamp in the book from February of this year, and no history at all in the Audi database. So there is only evidence of 1 service in almost 10 years. I am starting to get a bit !Removed! off with this actually, and it's real

Hello all After a year of owning my first RS6 c5. It seems I'm in need of new strut top mounts. Do any of you have experience of the 034 rubber mounts? I've seen they are solid vs original ones that have bearings. How much of a difference does this make. And on a side note has anyone used RB Racing brake disc. What's your thoughts? Any help will be much appreciated Pete

Hello everyone, Wondering if anyone can help me. A few weeks ago my EPC light came on and immediately went into limp mode and started jumping when driving at 5mph. After a few hours I came back to the car and it was fine so I drove it to my storage unit. I came back the next day and when starting it the EPC light and EML light were illuminated and the idle was quite rough. Hi. My partner's recently bought Q2 has an odd and not very welcome feature. The wing mirrors fold on locking the car with the key pilp, but don't unfold when the car is unlocked with the plip. They only do so when the key goes in the ignition. In some circumstances this can lead to doubt about whether the doors are locked or not whereas before it was obvious as the plip alone folded and unfolded the wing mirrors (as is does with my similarly new A3). The garage says it can't be changed but does

Recently while driving my EPC light came on . Followed by my engine management light. Unfortunately I was on the motorway so put car into sports mode in the auto box to keep the revs high so I could get home the 49 miles. Been to the garage this morning no lights on my dash they diagnosed 2 coil packs going down. They are going to replace all 4 spark plugs and coil packs next week. They also said that I may now need a new catalytic converter. Has anyone had any issues with this sort of proble
