Hi all. I have a 2016 s3 8v and out of the blue is has a warning about low oil pressure.. changed both sensors and the oil control valve but as soon as the onboard oil temp hits 80 I get the warning again and the following codes. P164D00 contact for reduced oil pressure malfunction.. P001700 row 1 camshaft position G300/crankshaft position G28 faulty adaption.. regular serviced on 40k miles all genuine parts.. anyone had similar?? Thanks in advance

Welcome Steve, and sorry to hear of your issue.
When was the oil last changed, by who, and do you know what grade was used?
Regards,

Gareth.

Less than 6 months ago by a mechanic who i have used for over 10yrs and as far as what oil im unsure would have to ask him but he has always used OE parts and as manufacturer recommended oil at my request.

Thanks Steve,

Silly question, but we take it you have checked the oil level, and can confirm it doesn’t use a significant amount of oil?

Are you able to measure real-time running oil pressure with the diagnostic equipment you have?

If not, I would be carrying out this as my first port of call.

Next move would then be to drain and refill the oil using. VAG’s Quantum brand Longlife 3 (5w/30?) and test again.
Please let us know how you get on.

Level is good to be fair it hardly uses any oil. Will find out what oil went in

I wouldn’t bother. Just check what grade is quoted in your handbook, then go on EBay and buy 5 ltrs of Quantum Longlife from a reputable seller. Order a Mann or Bosch filter at the same time, and take these along to your garage and ask them to do an oil and filter change using your parts.

Please let us know how you get on.
