Need clarification on a stop start issue

Featured Replies

Hi... I recently purchased an a6 and the stop start function isn't working... it hasn't worked from the moment I got it... 2 days after I bought the car a warning light popped up for an under inflated rear tyre... the sales person is trying to tell me the stop start function isnt working becouse of this warning light regarding the under inflated tyre... personally speaking I think its nonsense... he says its all connected... however I know nothing about the car so I need clarification before I take it further...

I'd start by charging the battery via the jump start poles .   Or battery + and body for - .   Chances are it's been on sale for a few months and not driven.

Welcome Johnny,

Personally, I’d be clapping my hands that the engineeringly averse stop/start system isn’t working, but some owners think it’s impressive.

As Billy says re battery, but it’s quite possible the battery is below par anyway. Connrction between TPMS and stop/ start? Have you adjusted the tyre pressures to those recommended - usually inside the fuel flap?

If the salesman’s diagnosis is correct!! - then your stop start should work after about 1/2 mile. Good luck with that!
Please let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Gareth.

In a way he is right, though if he really knows why that is he has conned you in the sale. The problem is the battery and/or alternator is defective. If you bought the car in the last 30 days you are entitled by law to a refund or a free rectification of the fault.

I see you have visited the forum just two hours ago. Have you no response to the three replies you have received to your question? Have the three of us wasted our time considering your problem?

Could be mapped out. I got mine done, start/stop pain in the neck, no need for it.
