6 CD Autochanger

Featured Replies

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me please. The cd autochanger in my 1999 audi cab doesn't work. The unit will allow you to load cd's but the headset does not recognise that there are any there. Does anyone know of somewhere I could either get this repaired or purchase another unit from please? Any help is much appreciated.

Alan

Welcome Alan,

These CD changers were notorious for jamming etc. but were generally reliable in other respects. I’m well qualified in the old fashioned stakes, but as I understand it, you can get better, as good as, music using your phone and an Ankor ( spelling?) speaker - I’m about to do that in a 60s classic car.

If you don’t want to go down that route, I think I have an Alpine 6 CD changer here somewhere, ex an older Jaguar, which I would be prepared to part with.
Regards,

Gareth.

Hi Gareth, thanks for the reply.

I am trying to keep the original headset and would just like the cd player to work I guess. Therefore I would like to accept your offer of the Alpine cd changer if you think it would be compatible. How do I  go about reimbursing you for postage etc?

Thanks Alan

Thanks Alan,

I very much respect the originality bit, but if it were mine, I would be searching out a trusted local car audio specialist and taking advice there. I’d be surprised if it isn’t possible to link in a concealed USB port - or whatever - retain your original headset and use that to play music from your phone.
Re.my Alpine CD changer - being mercenary, I wasn’t really intending to give it away for a reimbursement  of postage costs.
Regards,

Gareth.

Hahaha, sorry Gareth I didnt mean I wanted it for nothing lol. Do you have a price in mind please? Cheers Alan

Apologies for the delay Alan, I was away when I responded to your post.
Back home now, and have the Alpine 6CD changer to hand.
I’ll PM you the details before bed. No obligation.

Regards,

Gareth.
