having issues only with the front bit the back 

I can raise it up and it stays up whilst stationary but then begins to lower after a mile or so ( front only )

any advice appreciated

Difficult to tell without a scan with VCDS. Would need inspection, with wheels off. Get a plant sprayer with warm soapy water. Spray on the suspension air bag components to see if any tell tale bubbles. Is compressor kicking in at any point to compensate?

Yes I can raise it and it stays up for a while but then de compresses after 10 mins of driving 

try checking for leaks on valve block , orings may be problem
