A5 B10 TFSI e Charging Problems

Featured Replies

Hi all, newbie here.

I picked up an A5 Avant earlier this week after trading in my A3 TFSI e 8Y.  Since getting it, I’ve been unable to charge the car on my Pod Point Solo 3 at home.  I just get a red light on the charger and “Charging not possible.  Charging system fault” message on the MMI.  The car though does charge at public chargers or via the granny charger.

The charger worked fine on the A3 and has also been tested on another EV.   Pod Point can’t find any errors from their end in the diagnostics.

Has anyone witnessed any similar issues?  The dealership are a little stumped, and can’t explain it.  The car is running the 03.10.00/C software that I believe is the latest KD2 update.

That the car charges at public (presumably DC via a CCS plug) charge points and the granny (AC) charge point suggests the car is fine. There seems to be an incompatibility between the car and the charge point. Pod Point don't have the best of reputations so I suggest you pursue them again. Unfortunately the international standard for domestic charge points is rather vague and open to interpretation by manufacturers.

Thanks for your reply.  I thought it may be the charger but was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the matter.  What you say makes sense.

Got to agree about their reputation.  The sales pitch is polished but the service afterwards can be like pulling teeth.
