Just bought A3 sTronic Cabriolet

Featured Replies

Just bought and seems it has NO book pack.  What should I have?  When buying I’ve normally always had a cute pack of books to read at night with a cuppa!

also has this 6 speeed auto STronic box…… seems a very different animal than I’m used to…..can anyone advise if has any do’s and don’t s driving one?

thanks in advance

Phillip.

If by book pack you mean the handbooks then no, they don't exist anymore. All documentation is online unfortunately.

As for the gearbox, the only ban I can think of is to never coast in neutral. Otherwise treat it like any other automatic gearbox, i.e. put it in Drive and forget about it. The box can take care of itself far better then any driver.

Is a 2014 car ……so still no pack even?

Apologies for the contra opinion Cliff, but I think this 12 year old car would have been supplied with the owner’s cased handbook pack. Post 2020?? models seem to be accessed on-line, but I’m unsure when this change was actually implemented.

Way forward Philip:- contact seller, but many ex lease etc. vehicles seem to suffer from a lack of a retained owner pack.
Well worth searching EBay, and I’d be surprised if you don’t come up with what should have been there.

Please let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Gareth.

p.s. I take it you have a print out for the computerised service history -?

Yep getting print out.
one item that it did say was they took dash out to trace a burning smell and identified it as a preheat module. It seems the then customer told them to not replace so guessing it was due to a cost!

im now wondering if it was something to do with being a diesel??? Glow plugs???

Sorry about jumping in on this, but was it bought from a dealer, and did you know the previous owner had parted company with it due to the high cost of repair?

Yep from a bonified dealer and showed me this remark once I put a deposit on

So it seems you knowingly finalised the purchase of the vehicle knowing it had a fault -?

Deposits are generally non refundable, but I would have thought that would not apply where such a disclosure had been made after the deposit had been paid.
