How often should a 2017 S5 be serviced?

Featured Replies

Hi, I made a post about 4 years ago that I was looking for an S5 (4 years later and still looking!) I have found one that I like but there was a period of 5 years where the car wasn't serviced. This is what the dealer is showing the service history as:

18/04/2026 - 37,780 miles

01/02/2021 - 18,681 miles

18/09/2019 - 11,946 miles

30/11/2018 - 8,690 miles

So between February 2021 and April of this year it doesn't appear to have been serviced, is this normal? I can see from the registration the car was MOT'd every year so I don't think the car was sorn or not being used during that period.

Thanks!

No, that’s not normal. So basically 19k miles from Feb 2021 to April 2026. You want complete transparency from seller. If car was in storage, then I’d be looking for receipts. Even if car was doing 4k a year, then I’d still oil change annually.

Ah ok thank you, I have emailed the dealer so I will ask and see what they say thank you.😊

So can we take it this is a 2015 ish car?

We guess it is for sale at a non- franchise garage?

What system is the seller using as evidence of the servicing record? vAG on-line record?

If so, it could simply be a case of the owner having it serviced at a local garage or similar.

Worth running an on-line VCheck for £9.99, if only to gather the all important changes of ownership.

As with all potential vehicle purchases, do your own homework, and discount what you are told by the seller until you have sight of the written evidence.

Regards,

Gareth.

It is a 2017 car according to the advert, it is being sold by FOW. I must admit I haven't bought a car from them before, not sure if anyone here has experience with them? This is the advert if it helps:

Thanks!

It's possible the car was serviced at a non Audi garage in the missing five years, but without written evidence I would walk away from purchase.

I spoke to them this morning and they said they didn't have any information about the gap so I didn't bother taking it any further, a bit disappointing to be honest.

Thank you to everyone for the help.
