Door hinge replacement

Featured Replies

Hey guys im from new zealand, i got a a3 8p with a vr6, it has 45xxxkms. it has front right damgage and the door was hit in the crash,

Im trying to replace the front right upper door hinge but its impossible to access the inside bolt to remove it from the body.

Ive searched everywhere on google and youtube and audi forrums and have seen no one try this repair or any advice.

Has anyone on here attempted something like this or seen someone do it??

Also want to add that im thinking of bending the original hinge back to place as its quite misaligned.

That may mean that the body has twisted so the problem may be greater than just the door closure. I suggest you get the car onto an alignment jig to check it first. It would be a shame to get the door closing properly only to find the car crabs or wanders along the road, or that the tyres are scrubbed to shreds.

it has a bent steering arm so drives like it has a really bad alignment, gets good drift angle though, tyres r shredded to bits after i couldnt help my self but drive. i think theres no other option but to bend the hinge, dont really care about the other stuff its not as major as this for me. these r the only photos i got of the damge

What was the point of asking a question here if you do not return to read any replies?

A chassis or steering misalignment will make the car unsafe to drive, so you really should care about it.

Presumably NZ has some sort of compulsory road worthiness test? If it is anything like ours the car could fail the test.
