Just bought my first saloon & Audi (A4 B5?). Looking forward to meeting everyone here. I am new to the Audi scene. Couple of concerns:

1) Central locking vacuum pump I think is faulty, where is it located?

2) Concert single din stereo is always on MAX volume

3) Noisy / Squeaky brake pedal (spring?)

That's all I've spotted so far. I've got the underpowered 1.6 Automatic. Hoping to upgrade to a 1.8 or 1.8T at some point. Could someone please help me identify if my model is a pre facelift or post facelift? it's a September registered V reg (1999). Lastly what bulbs fit into low/high, fogs & number plate. I intend to fit HIDs in the Low beams & some LEDs in the number plate lights.

Hi and welcome to the club!  :)

Locate the spring on the brake pedal and try a small quantity of white grease. Pump the pedal a little and this should hopefully cure the squeak!

Quality advice! worked well thanks. Any idea what version mine is?

I've heard a lot of mixed information, could mine be a 99.5? I have an analogue clock, no led display on the dash, and a single din concert stereo. In regards to the forum, is there a section where I can post a blog about my car?
