Hi Everyone - new here

 

In the attached picture - I have air coming out of the mesh area of this pipe - indicated by red arrow. I think its the Cat Converter but need anyone to confirm - the air is coming out every time I accelerate and it smells like exhaust fumes.

 

Any ideas.......................... quick fixes ??

 

I have an Audi A4 B7 2005 2.0 tdi 

 

The pipe looks like a pipe with a large 'can' on it. I does looks like a cat converter but need someone to confirm as originally I thought it was the exhaust.

Definitely looks like a cat converter to me.

 

You may wish to find a used one from a scap yard as that will save you a few quid.

many thanks- thats what i thought. The air appears to be leaking from the 'flange' ? - do you know any quick fix? would the smell of exhaust fumes appear if its the cat ?
