A6 Avant luggage cover not retracting

Featured Replies

Have just received our A6 Avant back from the body shop after some repairs, and have noticed that the retractable luggage cover is only sliding back about a third of the way. It moves up and down fine when the boot opens and closes, although only the first third.

Is there a trick to resetting this?

I called Audi and they suggested holding the boot close button for about 10 seconds to reset, which I didn't think would work as I'd just seen a video on another forum about using that to set the boot height.

Any help appreciated.

Hi sw3103

We hear you, hang on and someone will give you a good answer soon that will help :)

Best of luck

Bradley

Hi Steve....welcome to the Forum

It sounds like the bodyshop disconnected the battery and lost the settings.

The reset should be as Audi suggested and may necessitate you disconnecting the battery and trying the reset again.

Let us know what you find out with sorting this.

I'm not 100% sure how to disconnect the battery. I can't see a screw or clip on the + terminal. It says in the manual that systems like the electric windows need to be reset after disconnecting the battery, although it doesn't state how!

Through a series of random pushes on the boot close button whilst it's opening/shutting, I can sometimes manage to get it to retract all the way. I then keep the boot close button pressed for a long time, although it doesn't seem to stick.

I'm having the same problem with my C7 RS6. i had the batteries changed lately.

cheers

Hi everybody,

Suddenly the electric luggage cover of my A6 Avant 2.0TDI 4G C7  is locked in the closed position, when the tailgate opens or closes, the lid remains locked. The sliding mechanism does not move even a millimeter, even trying to force it easily. With the VAG, during a diagnosis it turned out that "Anti Play Lock" is active, this option is not mentioned in the manual. Does anyone have an idea on how it can be disabled, or a specific solution?
Thank you

Hi all hope this is the right conversation for my post. I had a 2013 A6 C7 Avant with the mesh load cover / dog guard. Part number is 4G9 861 691 94H. When I sold the car I forgot to include the mesh cover so I still have it and 2 years later I thought I’d stick it on eBay. When cleaning it up I pulled the mesh guard out of the tube (?) and now it won’t go back in? Does anyone know how to get it to feed back in? Is it electrical and so needs to be in the car in order to retract?? TIA
