Couple of issues B6 Avant

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Im having an issue with what seems to be the tailgate locking mechanism. The catch is working fine, however the warning light is staying lit on the dash as is the light on the inside panel of the tailgate. Since this fault has arose, the alarm keeps going off intermittently. I am guessing all these are related and possibly to a micro switch built into the locking mechanism. Any advice please?

Hi Jason

If has been cold and wet over the months, so this could have made a leak where water could be on a censor or on wires.

Regards

Bradley

I was also wondering whether or not it may be a broken wire where the loom passes through the top hinge, that happened on my 02 A4 last year but everything stopped working on that occasion

It could be different things tbh :/ have you looked around at the seals around the boot ect?

Hi Jason...welcome to the Forum

It's usually water ingress on the VAG cars leaking onto the latch microswitch....you need to sort the leak and clean out the electrics.

Worth also checking the wiring into the tailgate but I haven't known it to happen on VAG, every other car though, lol

Cheers  Trevor
