A4 3.0 V6 Quattro - Grinding feel when pressing clutch

Featured Replies

Hello,

I purchased last year a black Audi A4 3.0, V6 Quattro Cabriolet. Great car so far, one thing is really bothering me however!

The clutch when pressed has a rough 'grinding' feel to it. I think its got worse over the past few months. The clutch seems to work fine, with no slippage etc and there are no noises that associate with the rough feel, but its now really ruining the drivability of the car.

In addition, when the clutch is pressed and when I rev the engine, I can actively feel the revs through the clutch etc.

Could this be the clutch release bearing? If so, big job or total clutch replacement. the car has the original unit and is on about 80k so far.

Or could this be the DMF. I'm not quite sure what the usual symptoms of that would be however?

Any advice is appreciated!

It does sound like the release bearing grinding into the clutch cover....usually when someone rests their foot on the clutch pedal and the working clearance is taken up and the bearing is forced to spin at engine speed rather than idle speed.
