Dash dimmer/illumination issue

Featured Replies

Hi All and cheers for the add. Have a 2008 A6 Avant however both the mileage and trip panel doesn't illuminate. You can see all the details there very faintly but no amount of pressing the 'increase' + button makes it brighter. Any ideas please ? Or any guidance on how to get the 3 button 'check' cluster out without damaging the surrounding trim would be really helpful. Thanks in advance

Hi Lee...welcome to the forum

Could you push it out from behind the dash as opposed to levering it out?

Sounds like it could be the switch, with a build up in resistance.

Let us know how you get on with it

Cheers,   Trevor

Hi Trevor

Thanks for taking the time to reply - much appreciated. Quite strange really as we were doing rather a long road trip over the weekend (down to your way actually) and the mileage screen illuminated, flickered for a bit and then stayed on. It comes and goes intermittently so I'm assuming either a dry circuit joint or loose connection to the cluster. Was a bit of a trip really since on doing it the developed a heating issue (hot in the side vents, cold set on the air con) and the oil level 'min level' sensor seems to be playing up, not to mention both front wheel bearings giving up so plenty to be getting on with and resolving it seems !

Cheers

Lee

Hot and cold air from airvents is most likely this . Easy diy fix . It did fix issues on mine a6
