Auxiliary belt tensioner/idler pulley

Morning All,

New to this forum but hoping someone could help me out.

I'm in the process of replacing the auxiliary belt. In removing the old (snapped) one, I released I'm also going to need to replace the tensioner and the idler pulley. Both now ordered and should be with me tomorrow so I should hopefully get it back on the road at the weekend.

But a few questions...

1) is the idler pulley a left-hand/reverse thread?

2) is the tensioner on a LH/reverse thread?

3) is it possible to replace the tensioner without removing the front end? I've seen a  few vids online, but none seem to be for this year/engine (2005 2.0 TDI)

I've manage to get the old belt off without taking the car to bits, and I'm hoping I can continue this way. I wonder if the alternator needs to be wiggled out the way to replace the tensioner as well though??

Many thanks
