Martin Cartledge
Hi all, I have just bought a 2005 A4 Convertible 1.8 sport (i think). I absolutely love the car and its in great nick. I have 3 initial questions really if I may. I have already tried to search for answers to these but don't really find a conclusive answer. 1) The multimedia screen has an option for a phone. How can i go about this recognising my phone. Ideally through bluetooth but wired would be good too. Im guessing this option is not 'live' on my car but isothere a relatively simple ay to make it work? 2) How do i upgrade the sat nav? I have read about making sure i have a relatively new software version the buying a new disc, but i can't conclusively find all the steps i might need to take. Is there a guide anywhere? Also when selecting a destination it doesn't accept all of the postcode. If for example I'm trying to navigate to HP5 1YQ, it only allows me to put in HP5 1. This is a wide area. I realise that it then asks for road name, but what if i don't know it? Does the upgrade get round this issue? 3) Lastly there seems to be a whooshing sound if i accelerate hard. I have read some comments saying that this might be gearbox fluid needing topping up. It doesn't seem to affect performance but is more annoying than anything. Anyone with experience with this and does anyone know how to check the fluid levels of the gearbox? Thanks so much for anyone that attempts to answer my newbie questions. Really happy to be part of what seems a great community! Oh and i love the car! Thanks all Martin
Steve Q
Welcome to the forum Martin :) You'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) I'll try and help with your questions. Number 1: I suspect the Bluetooth feature isn't live on your car and as such it won't have the microphone fitted either. Number 2: some members have bought discs off eBay which have been alot cheaper than from Audi and these discs gave worked a treat. I can't give you any sellers details though as I've not done it myself. Sorry. The postcode issue you mention is unfortunately ba common issue on some built in satnavs especially from the vag group. There should be another way of entering the postcode I believe but again I'm not sure how as I don't have a built in satnav. Sorry. I've found these 2 videos on YouTube that may help though: number 3: I wondering if it could be the turbo? The seals can leak which can cause whistling and wooshing sounds. Hope I've helped in some way. Glad you like the forum :) we strive to have a friendly club :) please have a look at our up and coming events, your more than welcome to display your a4 with us at up and coming shows :) Cheers Steve
Shealesy
How big is the whooshing sound? I had a whooshing sound start about a mile after a thermostat change, coupled with a hairdryer like effect from every panel gap or air passage around the front of the car, and it was a hose popped off from a cooler. Under the front bumper, drivers side for me (different engine, 2.5tdi). Pushed back on and tightened the jubilee clip right up to fix.
