Hi all. New here so if doing this wrong let me know.

Have had my A6 a few months now and love it. But I'm getting issues that I need to sort. I'm not sure if it's 1 or many. Will give you the background of what's been going on, then hope you guys have a clue.

When I brought her the radio kept turning on and off. At first was just intermittent, maybe couple time in a 30 mile run. Now it just flickers like sending morse code. When the headlights are on the the illumination that comes on in the cockpit on the radio also flashes, so total power loss.when it did run the signal was really bad.i got the keys to remove and the wiring behind looks immaculate and unmolested.

Then came the high line break light, it was going from a few led not working to totally not working. More often now not working at all than anything going by the dash warning. As it's on or swearing at me 99% of the time.

The rear and boot cabin lights have now stopped working and I get a click from what I believe is the passenger rear door as well,  but still just an intermittent thing of as and when it feels like. The front passenger door wil be a real pain some days and just not shut,no matter how hard or soft it's closed. It just bounces to the 2nd catch to stop it swinging open. It's like the handle being help open, or the central locking is stopping it catching properly.

And now to top all that my passenger footwear is totally soaked. Not looked at the other footwells yet as to fed up.

There are 2 other things but don't think anyway related and that's the climate/aircons not cold, but think that's a re gas issues and possible leaking injector/s as don't start straight away when sat a day or most of one then a puff off smoke on start, starts fine on button otherwise.  The odd miss fire from cold, but heard that's common for the engine to do ?.

Right now you got all I know and all I can think of in the way of issues that have been popping up. Other than the last 2, is this from a water ingress issue creating a load of problems or just brought a dud that's riddled with problems. She was fine for a month or so with just the sterio and aircon issues. Thought just a re gas and maybe an earth or power lead issue on the radio.

Thanks for reading this far thought this info may help someone know. Any help will be greatly recieved, Thanks karl

I think you'll find the faults are linked. On the c5 the water drain points in the battery area can become clogged with foliage and dirt etc. This then means water cabt escape via the channels and thus enters the cabin through the normal holes in the bulkhead for wiring. The water then floods the footwell and in the process can damage the fusebox behind the dash. This I believe is what's caused your electrical issues.

Normally to resolve the issues the footwell and other wet areas need to dry out then you'll need to get a diagnostic check carried out. Worst case scenario is that some of the electronic modules are wrecked.

Sorry I can't help more.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve, Thanks. I take it I need to find a way to get at the chanels and unblock them. So I can start the dry out process. Why can't cars do these things in the summer when it's warm outside lol. well I was on the right track of thinking. Thanks for the clarification. Cheers Karl

You're welcome Karl :) I'd start off by removing the battery. You'll get a better view then.

Cheers

Steve
