I need to get a new front tyre the weekend, so I will ask them to change the drivers side to the passenger side so the rotational direction of the tyre is correct. When the Wheel Barings & Hub have been changed there maybe a possibility that the wheels was put back on incorrectly. I hope this changing the tyres around and new tyre with tracking sorts the issue, I may have spent money on but at lest I know these parts are not going to need changing for while1 point1 pointHello David , Yes, OK "use Audi for now" but I notice the car is just a year old ( if we are talking the same car here) and if so it's obviously under warranty and I wonder about any degree of DIY on this, even using Audi parts. My view is DIY oil changes equals significant cost savings, so buying the proper filters simply has a very minimal % on cost and not worth the bother over aftermarket. Not even a pint of beer over a 1000 miles of use?? Audi filters (and other parts) at discount? You could try Rainesworth Skoda (Skoda Parts Shop on EBay) .I'm sure there are others. Porsche Boxter DIY oil changes and a search for cheap filters? Well David, they say the Welsh have deep pockets and short arms! No offence - after all, we have confirmed your cheaper Quantum oil is fine and given you a contact source for cheaper genuine filters. Must be worth a wee dram! Yes, I was expecting a high maintenance bill, but just not so soon! Thanks for your reply and advice. That is my fall back option. My garage have done that with one RS4, but he said you get a louder sucking noise, performance does not seem to be effected noticeably after a remap. From what I have read it effects the power a little under 3000 RPM. I managed to find Southwalesprops who can supply some replacement 12mm core plugs and AwesomGTI who can supply two "Billet Aluminum Intake Manifold Flap Linkages ", which replace the plastic linkages (although not broken yet, maybe worn). My garage (A M Cars - Audi Quattro specialist) is going to strip them out and see if they can figure out what is causing the movement, as it is fine on the other bank. So I have everything crossed at the moment that they can fix it. Failing that, I found a used Inlet Manifold in Germany for sale with 90,000km on the clock for under £500. Will keep you posted on how it all goes! Have found this to be a common problem on VAG engines where the belt is too loose and it 'glides' over the top of the idler pulley rather than turning it. This then leads to overheating of the belt and then complete failure. Or the debris could be there from previously and they didn't replace the roller.1 point1 pointThat's crazy! Never seen anything like that before! As Trevor has said Dunlop can't just dismiss this. Especially as it's on an Audi technicians report. I would imagine it's on the previous report/video as well. There might be some bargains to be had! ;)1 pointSunday 13th August marked the 9th Audis in the park event as well as a new location. Deenes Park. However, before the show we met at the Chequered Flag Inn in Corby from 8am which allowed us to get to know each other as well as allowing us to travel to the show in convoy. And gave me a good opportunity to thank members for coming including handing out free t-shirts and stickers. We arrived at Deenes Park just after 9am and the surrounding roads were already jammed packed with Audis. On entering the grounds to the park we had to queue in multiple lines before getting into the show ground. I don't think iv ever seen so many Audis in one place! Audis had come from all over, including from Germany, France and the Netherlands to name but a few. On entering the ground we managed to get a pitch next to the dirt track. This allowed us to see all the other cars enter the show and was almost like a preview for the days events. It was nice to see our stand as we at least 12 cars on display! After the Audis had entered the show we all went to have a look at the cars on display. It was plainly obvious why this is one of the biggest Audi shows as nearly every Audi club was in attendance. And the cars ranged from a 1970s audi 100 through to the brand new Audi rs5. The biggest display was by the Audi TT clubs. Not to mention that the police turned up with 2 Audi police cars! Besides the cars and clubs there was a small selection of trade stands. Selling everything from cleaning products through to Audi fidget spinners! As well as hot and cold and obviously beer! Whilst at the show our club did get interest from other Audi owners who wished to join. Two of which came and parked there cars on our stand. This included a yellow 1982 Audi 80 (yellow) and a 1991 Audi 80 (red). By 3pm cars were leaving the show and this gave us a chance to watch the procession of Audis leaving. This allowed us to see cars that we had missed during the day. As a club we stayed until we were asked to leave which was around 5pm. The time had gone so fast! But this was down to chatting amongst ourselves. Overall the event was great and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and will look forward to attending the show next year for its 10th anniversary. Cant say fairer than that for a £1000 px clearance . I just need to find out the make and part number. I understand what you are saying about 3rd party filters but for our Boxster, I was using filters from Porsche and discovered they were a Hengst E14H D77 in the Porsche box. They were less than half price for exactly the same filter. I will start using these now as they are what Porsche use.1 pointHello Gav, It's the weekend, and the instant reply department is closed! Only joking. Question:- Is the whining noise audible when the car is at rest and the engine rev. ed slightly? If not then my stab at this would be that it is unlikely to be the cambelt - but I could be wrong. As a I see it, if you suspect the the belt is too tight, and the garage who fitted it contests this then the only option open to you is to have it inspected and adjusted (without delay) by another reputable garage or ideally an Audi independent. You would of course need to inform the dealer who did this that this is what you are going to do. The arguement of who pays (reimburses you) will be open for debate once things are sorted or agreed were OK in the first place. I would think that whatever information you get from the forum isn't actually going to resolve this "on the ground", and you do need independent hands-on advice. Good luck, Gareth. p.s.
