  1. I just thought I'd sign-up because I'm having a clear out of all my parts from various cars. I have a Audi coupe rear boot lid complete with glass in silver and I really don't want to scrap it as I'm sure someone will have a use for it, I believe it came off a late model so 95-96. And of course it's free, it just needs collected from west Scotland. Pictures on request.
  2. Yes I mean a code reader, but not the cheap ones available from Ebay and the like. You need a professional quality scanner which can read the full range of codes. VCDS is one commonly recommended on the forum, and there are a couple of others whose names I don't recall.
  3. Watch Saving Salvage on YouTube and a few videos on his rebuilt engine on an R8. Dean Shaw knows his way around cars. The R8 is a supercar, so rear engine, and an absolute pain to access anything. Also expect the usual Audi prices for any replacement parts. Also watch Ricky from REPerformance on YouTube. Again, very, very experienced with these cars. There are 186 on sale on Autotrader ranging from £190k to £28k. You can afford to shop around. You want a service history as long as your arm. A genuine car will have documented history, probably garaged, and the owner will be able to bore you to tears with every nut and bolt. That’s the kind you’re looking for. Also keep back cash reserve for unexpected bills.
  4. Had this servo failed message along with auto stop/start appear on my A4 Avant. Purchased the replacement part from Audi as I needed it in a hurry and it cost me £108 inc VAT for the part. Fitted in less than two minutes following a YouTube video. The technician at Audi who served me could not believe the price and also commented that they had lots of issues with this sensor. I would imagine this is actually a £10 to £15 part to produce.
  5. Hi if its not that type of movement I described the other culprit would be the gear linkage on the side of the gearbox as this relies on nylon cups running on the metal ball joints on the mechanism, these wear and make the gear change sloppy thats why audi sell a repair kit. Steve.
  6. Hi its the gearbox rear mount which is cheap enough if you buy aftermarket say Febi, classic signs are if you accelerate hard the stick moves back and when you decelerate without braking the stick moves forward, fairly easy to change if you have a four poster ramp and gearbox cradle to support the weight of the box when changing. Steve.
