  1. Thanks again Sid I also found similar but steered away from it as camera dint appear to be the same. I've sorted it now with the switch off eBay. Which can also be purchased from RS. It's an omron switch part no D2HW A201D Photos attached show the tabs soldered on to allow the original wiring harness plug to connect. Bit fiddly but it works. Link to switch on RS https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/?searchTerm=Omron+D2HW+A201D
  2. Update on the problem….. took the car back, the salesman was puzzled but booked it in with their maintenance guy turns out, when they serviced the car they didn’t top up the brake/clutch fluid duly sorted its running sweet as a nut now £4 bottle of dot 4, not a new gearbox
  3. Hi film production teams have a large budget, if you want to see how truly awful these engines are go on YouTube and dial in VAG Technic and live the true horror of chain changes on low milage engines on the model you are looking at, forget 4k by the time you have replaced the cams and gears as well more like £12000, btw they mention transporter cos thats what you will need to get it to the nearest place that wants to repair it. Steve.
  4. 2 viewings due this week, so fingers cross
  5. So …… I ended taking it to my local garage( not many options in the western isles of Scotland) , they had a look but didn’t want to try and fix and suggested I take it to a dealer . I gave it an oil change and traded it to Audi , it was a 150 mile trip and the car drove like a dream. Sad to see it go and I now see that’s it’s for sale near London . I got 25 plate A5 and so far so good , apart from a couple of warning lights 🙈
  6. Hello Brazil, Since when has any ordinary-ish modern production Audi been an investment? Regards, Gareth.
  7. This thread acts as inspiration for my own A6 c5 rebuild.
  8. Hopefully it is ok, my job is an MOT tester so I've built it as best I can to pass. I think the rear needs lowering an inch more, it was too low before but I raised it too much.
  9. Ok, I'm on the final stretch, I can see the finish line ahead. Hopefully next Friday it can get an MOT. The final parts to complete are, Plug the seats in and clear the Airbag light, Plug the rear Abs sensors in and clear the Abs light, Bolt the front bumper on, Space the rear exhaust down a bit as the tailpipe trims are touching the bumper, Re adjust the rear parking sensor wires as I cut through them when trimming the bumper, Bolt the clutch reservoir to the bulkhead. I will leave the audi r8 rear wheels as they are for now, I can get the new rears to match the fronts in the r8 fitment, it's just not needed for now. The exhaust seems to fit fine, it does sound nice too which was a bonus.

As per my previous advice it definitely could be the megatronics unit. You could try and get the gearbox oil changed to see if that helps.

So just received my car back. New mechatrincics unit fitted. Drove fine for 20 mins. Pulling out of junction again and gearbox malfunction light came on and into limo mode( stuck in second gear). Think this just leaves one thing. The gearbox itself. I love this car when it works but over the last 6 months it’s given me nothing but bother and now looking at a bill for a new gearbox
