  1. Thanks Gareth for both the advice and welcome. I'll check with the dealer tomorrow, who is a independent German car specialist. To be fair to him, he's done the gearbox oil service for me, so that should last me a while! 🤣 I'll check what quality of oil he's used and that should give me an indication of what else he's used and what will be used moving forward, as I intend to take the car to him for servicing. As for your regime I think that's a good way to hopefully ensure a long and healthy relationship for the two of us 🤞🤞🤞 Thanks again mate. Cheers Paul
  2. Welcome Paul, thanks for joining, and if we can help in any way, we will do so. Re. advice on ongoing servicing:- If you have bought it from a dealer and it’s been serviced as part of the sale, then it might be wise to treat that service as if it had never been done, since it’s highly unlikely that quality oil and filters would have been used, in preference to the cheapest available. Our humble 1.6 A3 covers about the same mileage a year as you intend to do with yours, so I’m happy to pass on my regime, which has stood me in good stead over 180k miles:- Renew engine oil and filter annually even though only covering 6K/a. I only use VAG’s own brand - Quantum - and buy from reputable retailers on EBay. I use Mann filters, with the oil filter changed annually, and the air, and pollen filters changed every two years. Again reputable sellers on EBay are a good source, and I generally favour Parts in Motion for good service at competitive prices. If it were mine, I would treat it to oil, oil filter and pollen filter now, and use this as the base point for ongoing servicing. Just let us know if we can help further. Regards, Gareth.
  3. HOW HARD IS IT TO PUT PRICE ON CARS YOUR SELLING ?????????????

Hi Kieran. Looking forward to seeing the pictures of your car. Can I ask where you found it? Ebay? Here are some pictures of mine. I've posted them before when I first joined this forum.

Glad you have a resolution David, though worried that Audi can not, or more likely will not, fix the problem. God help the next person the dealer will undoubtedly sell the car to.
  6. As long as you maintain the same overall diameter by fitting low profile tyres to the larger rims then yes it is possible. The disadvantage of low profile tyres is the much harsher ride and the possible need for different springs and dampers. Consult a professional for detailed guidance on the change.
  7. Allow me to amplify and emphasise Gareth's comments. To put it baldly your battery is clapped out and needs to be replaced immediately. No matter how many booster cables you attach there are internal faults in the battery which are interfering with the stability of the power supply to the delicate electronics of the car, causing the starting and other problems. Install a new battery and code it to the car. (I am unsure if Carista will do the coding.) See this for the reason: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFK0JPs6aO0
  8. Welcome David, and many thanks indeed for your helpful reply. This now raises another query on Craig :- so if sump is cast aluminium, what is the extent of the corrosion? Some degree of surface ‘white rust’ (as it is generally known) is quite normal, so how severe is this on yours to warrant renewing it? A photo would be handy. Regards, Gareth.
  9. Thanks Luke, Service history looks to be what one would expect as historic, but if it were mine, I would treat it to more regular oil changes going forward - say every 8K. Re. ‘Dealership I bought it from’:- I guess that wasn’t a main dealer due to the age of the car. It might be worth considering doing an oil and filter change, since sellers often opt for cheapest oil and filters at the point of sale, but obviously await the opinion of your repairing garage. Please let us know how you get on Luke, and good luck in getting it sorted. Regards, Gareth.
  10. Hello, That’s the one. They will advise you on which update set you need. Also best to ask them for your installation guide as a PDF. It is very specific and must be followed to the letter! You get 3 x SD cards… Firmware, Maps and activation. It takes around 4 hours to complete. I chose to let my car run right through the tie it takes as you want to avoid any hiccups along the way. If you get stuck their customer service is very good - I spoke to David who answered all my queries very promptly. Hope it works for !Removed! well as it did for me Best regards, David👍
  11. It might be this one - https://www.satnavmapupdate.co.uk/audi-2-c.asp
  12. Thanks for that. I contacted a UK company called satnavmapupdate and they supplied me with 3 SD cards to update my HNav system/ Found them very helpful and after about a 4 hour upload and update I now have updated firmware and 2024 maps on my 2010 A5. All working well Best regards, David🙂
  13. Hello David, Wow! I will definately be investigating your find later this afternoon. I really hope this is the find i hope it is! Thanks very much for trying.👍🏻 Here are the pics of rust before and rubbed down.
